Ooo la la qui? The pre-shoot shoot!

Hello my loves, I have a few more incredibly glamorous shots from our weekend in the South of France. The day before the French chateau shoot we decided to have a little impromptu shoot on the nearby beach. David and I popped down to the beach to have a little scout around whilst Gemma finished preparing our gorgeous model Kathryn. The idea was to get a little fire going and shoot Kathryn through the flames… it wasn’t to be though… it was incredibly windy and impossible to get the fire going!!

Our lovely Kathryn was the consummate professional as she posed for these gorgeous shots on the beach. Wearing one of Sabina Motasems 30s inspired wedding dresses and Donna Crains stunning headpieces she really pulled off the ‘I’m not freezing to death look’. I of course, was on hand with a lovely warm blanket!!

Makeup:

From the mid thirties  women preferred ivory and blue tones. A color – as natural as possible – with an easy bright pink undertone. The eyebrows were plucked thin or shaved off entirely. Then the eyebrows were drawn on with an eyebrow pencil. Up to the middle of the thirties most popular lipstick colors were light rose, raspberry tones, Chinese red and orange tones. In the later 30s primarily bright red tones. Gemma kept to the 1930s basic image and just gave it a modern edge.

Hair:

Pin curls came in fashion in the 1920s to 40s. It is amazing how this art of styling hair has remained famous after so many years. Gemma wanted Kathryn’s hair to be a detailed chic style to go with Donna Crains hair piece. Gemma kept with the 30s spirit but gave
it a more doll like shabby chic look and feel, a 1930s bride who has just popped out of a magazine.

Lots of wax gel and hair pieces were needed for this look, Gemma sprayed the hair lightly with a silver hair spray to give it a little more art deco interest.
