Gooooood morning lovelies!! How are you? Are you having a good week? Excitingly the hubs and I have been working furiously behind the scenes creating a new look and feel to the blog. It’s coming to you in a brand new format and we really, really hope you have fun navigating your way around the new site. Fingers and toes crossed, it’s going live tomorrow so don’t forget to check back in!
On a regular basis I will be posting wedding decor ideas. For the crafty brides-to -be amongst you, some ideas will be Do It Yourself. For those who lack the time or inclination I’ll be sharing ideas and letting you know where you can purchase… phew!!
So lets get started with the humble little bottle. There are many, many ways you can transform a bottle, turning it from plain into a gorgeously pretty receptacle or wedding decoration.
Firstly, you’ll need the bottles…
Start collecting them now or purchase them from here… or here… or here…
To transform, why not tint your bottles in a variety of shades before adding flowers.
Use a clear glass bottle and fill with tinted water. Buy food colouring and practise perfecting your perfect hue…
Rather than traditional flowers, how about using leaves or ferns? Or stunning cherry blossom branches?
A great idea for a bottle that isn’t so attractive ~ paint it. These mono-chromed bottles are stylish and effective! Patience though, you’ll need a steady hand! Maybe the wonky painted bottles weren’t painted by children after all?
Rock the ombre look. For your first few bottles use your brightest coloured paints and with every new batch of bottles dilute each mixture down {with white}. You’ll end up with an array of cute coloured bottles. To finish, pop in a candle or a single flower stem.
The white bottles below are decorated with bits of cut up doilies, wallpapers and colourful ribbons.
For a glamorous and vintage look purchase apothecary jars and decorate with vintage looking labels, glitter, sparkly brooches and pearls. Or you could snap these ones up from Etsy.
Add vintage photographs to your tinted bottles… pictures of your parents on their wedding day or your grand parents or even your great grand parents! Photocopy the originals in black and white on a higher grade absorbent paper. Brush with tea or coffee solution and let them dry before inserting them into the bottles.
Source vintage bottles and decorate with handmade paper flowers and quirky vintage prints…
Tie lengths of string or ribbon around bottle necks, fill with flowers before hanging them from beams or the branches of a tree ~ perfect for a creative photo opportunity.
And finally why not create a beautifully ambient setting for your evening reception by filling bottles with lights.
I hope you’ve found this wedding decor ideas post useful? Do let me know how you get on my loves!
