Intimate Elopement: Sparkly Red Pumps | Real Wedding

Andrew and Laura’s intimate elopement is typical of what a Want That Wedding bride is all about. Here we have a couple who’ve done it completely their way… I love the fact Laura married in a sparkly red pair of Vivienne Westwood pumps, there really is no place like home!

We married on Wednesday 24th October, 2012. Our 4th anniversay.

I fell in love with my dress as soon as I saw it. I love vintage looking clothes especially Biba. I loved the long flared sleeves and the backless part. It’s also similar to my mothers wedding dress.

For my wedding shoes I chose ared sparkly pair of Vivenne Westwood  – I’m a big wizard of oz fan. A friend showed them to me and I knew I had to have them. My husband to be duly obliged :)

My mother made my button bouquet (she happens to be a qualified florist) from buttons and jewelery collected by myself and mum leading up to the wedding.

My something blue was in there along with a lucky horseshoe!

My tiara is vintage… worn by a lady in 1954 on her first date where she kissed her future husband… it’s got to be lucky right?!

I walked down the aisle to The Wedding March by Queen and my Dad ‘gave me away’.

If I could impart any words of wisdom for future brides to be I would say ‘Make sure you stay true to what YOU want… it’s really all about you two and no one else… and in all honesty it’s about the marriage… not the wedding. Don’t waste money on something you don’t really want!!’

Our photographer was Marcus from Bigeyephotography – he’s the best! I hate to be photographed and I knew he would be patient with me and get some really natural shots.

We didn’t tell anyone we were getting married as we didn’t want to be the centre of attention or fussed over. It was nice not having wedding conversations constantly like some brides to be do! I wouldn’t change a thing about our day.

The wedding bands were from ernest jones as they were one of the few people who made a 7mm band which is what I wanted.
