Laid Back Gastro Pub: Brighton & Hove | Real Wedding
Erin & Sean had a laid back wedding in Brighton & Hove and even held their wedding reception in their favorite gastro pub. Erin looked stunning in her Roland Mouret dress and their wedding photographer Jacqui McSweeney did them proud with a lovely creative shoot following their wedding nuptials.
Sean and I walked in together and got a lovely round of applause and whoops.
We’d been together for 12 years to the day of the wedding. We met taking foreign students around Brighton and have travelled the world together. Thought it was about time to make it official and everyone kept going on about how we weren’t married yet – we don’t like to rush things!
I really wanted a dress that wasn’t a wedding dress… I tried on lots of wedding dresses but always felt a bit like I was in fancy dress. I still felt like me in this dress. And I’ll hopefully be able to wear it again.
Our photographer Jacqui McSweeney made us look fabulous – no mean feat! She came up with the idea of going round Brighton after the ceremony and found some really surprisingly beautiful spots. We had some Hove seafront photos after the meal too. We loved every photo. It really reflected the day – lots of fun. Would definitely advise to spend on a photographer, the day is over so quickly and it’s lovely to look back and remember it all.
Our reception was at the Ginger Pig, Hove. It’s our favourite local foodie gastro pub, it’s relaxed and cosy but still elegant. The food is amazing too.
My brother and Sister in Law – Aidan and Louise wrote and printed out all the name and table settings the day before. We used luggage tags for the names from a stationary shop in Brighton Lanes and got some free printable numbers from the internet for the table numbers.
Quince in Brighton did the flowers. We were on a budget so we just told quince what we wanted to spend and what flowers we liked and they sent us a photo with what they could do. They also had lots of vintage green bottles and vases for us to use which were so much nicer than the usual florist vases. We went with cornflowers and white wild flowers.
Our entertainment was Stick it On – Brilliant idea. All your guests get to DJ their own song choices. Everyone feels included and the music somehow suits everyone. And we didn’t have the responsibility of picking all the songs!
If I could impart any words of wisdom to futures brides… Don’t worry about the details, you’ll have a great day; just make sure everyone has booze and food. Spend on a photographer, and don’t give people in Bridal shops a hard time (my mum worked in one so I’ve heard all about you!!). Get friends and family to help out.
Loving the relaxed vibe of this wedding, what do you think my loves? Are you gonna have a low key wedding? Erin and Sean’s wedding looked like loads of fun and I love their creative wedding shots, well done Jacqui and thank you for sharing with Want That Wedding

What a fun wedding! I love the colorful backdrops and ya for gastropubs! We just got our first gastropub here in Honolulu – I love it.

Gorgeous intimate pics… love the “no frills” touch.. awesome!
Brighton has so many great places for pics and you certainly got some fantastic ones. Love the Banksy shot. :)
Congrats oxox
I love these pictures. No wedding in Brighton is complete without a shot of something iconic be it the pier, the buildings, the pavillion or in your case our sheds.
Congratulations.
