Good morning lovely ladies! I am soooooo so so so excited to share with you a styled shoot I had the pleasure to be involved in last year. Set at the foot of the magnificent South Downs, in a twelve hundred acre, privately owned estate, Bignor Park was the beautiful wedding venue for the collaboration between Laura Babb of Babb Photos, myself and Jay Archer of Jay Archer Floral Designs. Laura showed Jay and I a thought provoking Gregory Crewdson image depicting a woman inside a suburban house sitting in a garden of flowers. It was this element of the natural outside world brought inside that inspired us to produce Love Grows: Wedding Inspiration.
Weddings don’t have to be all about pretty flowers. There are a whole host of beautifully sculptural plants that can provide an interesting and often more cost effective backdrop for your wedding or civil partnership.
This inspiration shoot was initally inspired by a fine art photograph by Gregory Crewdson, which blurred the boundaries between the natural world outside and the inside of suburban house.
The team behind the shoot wanted to put together a setting that merged the lines between the natural and the man made. This shows that plants can form an interesting and creative backdrop for couples who want something a bit different.
The shoot focuses on the use of rare succulents, plant material, moss and for a touch of luxury; gold leaf.
As well as showcasing this very unique wedding styling we also wanted to show there is an option for couples who do not want to get married in a traditional environment. One Life Ceremonies write and conduct personal wedding ceremonies that can be held in any location. They help couples to hold the Wedding Ceremony that they want and they work closely with couples to ensure every word, vow and reading is exactly as they want it.
I’m so blown away by these images. That Laura Babb is a very fine photographer indeed! What also takes my breath away is the floral design on this shoot.
The wedding bouquets are stunning and the second bouquet is magnificent. I’ve never seen anything quite like it! I love the idea of your table-scape almost growing… who knew that moss, cabbage roses and succulents sprinkled with gold leaf could look so damn fine.
Now if you don’t mind indulging me I would love to give a few shout outs. It was such a pleasure to work in a beautiful location (despite the pouring down rain) with such a keen and enthusiastic bunch of wedding creatives.
Rowan Williams was a god send, thank you for your help in getting our two gorgeous models ready. And speaking of our gorgeous models I am so impressed with the stellar work of Christina Jessel and Kasia Fortune who took our ideas and made them come to life. Such gorgeous hair and make-up guys :). Charlotte from Wilden Bride provided the beauuutiful wedding dresses that blow me away each and every time I look at them. Pose London, thanks for the last minute suits! Sarah from Creative Candi, you are a sweet buffet genius! Maki from Maki’s cakes. Wow, wow, wow! Paul Antonio, you are a true artist! Beautiful work and thanks for being involved.
So tell me, TELL ME… what do you think? Are you as enamoured with this shoot as we all are? We would love to hear your thoughts.
Lots of Love,
XxX Sonia
