Lovely London {RSA}: Real Wedding | Emily & George
Today, I’m going to let this gorgeous wedding do all the talking… *zips mouth shut and throws away the key*
We were set-up by a friend, and met in North London were we now live. The night of our proposal was a trip to the Theatre to see Phantom Of The Opera, when we left, we jumped into a tuk tuk to waterloo bridge and it was there that George popped the question. After a glass of champers we returned home to a flat full of rose petals, lights and Birdy playing, this was all accompanied by a pizza, champagne and a ticket to Scotland the next morning. We spent the weekend on a loch in a little cottage eating stews and pies!

All the bridesmaid bouquets and usher / best men button-holes were single stem bunches.
I couldn’t find a dress that I liked so chose to sketch one and worked with Tobi to make it what I wanted. I loved the veil as it was all hand-stitched and the tulle skirt. I also love that it had two bodices, one for the day time and another sparkly one for the evening.
Our ceremony was held at All Saints Church, Childs Hill, London.
George’s dad was the Vicar!
I walked down the aisle to Pie Jesu by Andrew Lloyd Webber (it’s a song I’ve always loved and I’m a big fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber)
We had mince pies and mulled wine…
One of our most memorable moments was walking out of the church to confetti (they were the petals from our engagement night).
Our reception drinks, dinner & party was at the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), London. George proposed on Waterloo bridge after a trip to the Theatre. We also both work in design and entered RSA competitions when we were younger.
We wanted a London wedding as it has been so huge in our relationship (where we met and live). We didn’t want it to feel too big or grand, just really cosy and intimate.
So we tried to steer away from themes and just relied on warm lighting / colours etc but with everything a little British.
We also wanted everyone to feel very loved, welcome and appreciated on the day so tried to include touches of them in things (postcards, photographs of each guest, colouring in books, some presents on tables, some thank you cards we had written on others).
For our reception decor we used lots of tealights and flowers in jam jars from Ikea!
We also had handmade hessian table cloths, sourced from Ebay. Bunting and sparklers from pipii.co.uk. Retro games on the tables from amazon and chalkboards from chalkboardsuk.com.
The order of service, menu’s, graphics and invitations were designed and made by George and I.
For wedding favours we handmade postcards of places in England that were connected to each guest. For the children we had party bags filled with a wooden London bus / a black cab / toys / books and sweets.
Rebecca of Rebecca Wedding Photography is a truly fab photographer – I felt like she was a friend within an hour of meeting her and she felt dedicated and committed to the day, as well as happy to be a part of it. She added so much to the day and my memory of the day – one of my fav things! She is truly skilled and very talented at what she does.
We found our singer Alba busking in Hampstead!
Our first dance was… Birdy 1901.
If I could imaprt any words of wisdom to future brides?
1. Take time out in the day. Everyone told me to but everything got so crazy that I didn’t manage too and I felt it!
2. Stay grounded. Don’t worry about everything, just enjoy it while preparing. Although so important, it is 1 day and the marriage is most important!
3. Don’t worry. I let everything get to me and spent the run-up to the day and the day worrying. Just enjoy it and go with the flow. Ignore everyone and as corny as it sounds, go with your gut feeling on everything.
Such a pretty wedding right? Emily looks beautiful, really beautiful! I love her dress, her shoes, the mix and match bridesmaid dresses, the flower girls, the grooms suit, the venue styling… the… gosh EVERYTHING. Huge thanks to Rebecca for sharing this lovely day and massive congrats to Emily and George! Gorgeous day. Gorgeous couple!
