Morning, morning! It’s real wedding time again {yay} and today’s real wedding has a lovely village fete charm. Mr & Mrs Cole wanted a real homely & personalised feel to their special day and opted for pretty lace jam jar centerpieces, down to earth fisn n’ chips and loads of pretty bunting… read on for all the charming details…
Mark and I met nine years ago in a night club. He proposed after seven years together on my 30th Birthday shortly after buying our first house together. We talked about getting married for a long time but decided to focus on our careers and spent some time apart whilst at I was at university and Mark was in the forces.

Lisa at Cicily Bridal listened to what I wanted and she picked out this dress for me. It was love at first sight and everything that I had always imagined my wedding dress to be like. The lace bolero gave me the unique look that I had been looking for.
I chose not to wear a veil as I had always wanted to wear fresh flowers in my hair.
I had three pairs or wedding shoes! My blue shoes for the day, my sparkly flats for dancing and a pair of white hunter wellies incase the weather turned bad.
My ceremony shoes were from Nine West and I wore vintage shoe clips by Rachel Simpson to add some sparkle. I knew from the beginning that I wanted something different and decided that my something blue was going to be my shoes.
We collected jam jars and dressed these with lace and ribbons as our table centre pieces filled with pretty flowers from local florists and supermarkets.
I wanted my bridesmaids to fall in love with their dresses and they each chose a different style and colour. I had always wanted them to wear different colours or shades so I was happy for them to influence my decision. My maid of honour wore a dress from Monsoon.
We walked down the aisle to the bridal march as I wanted everything traditional for the church service.
My favourite flowers are peonies and roses. As it was a little late for peonies Kerry chose some beautiful roses that would give me the same effect. I wanted pretty pastels and whites to complement my dress.
My maid of honour had a smaller version of mine and the bridesmaids had little posies of spray roses and gyp. Kerry also wired pink spray roses for the headcirclets for the bridesmaids and wired white spray roses for my hair.
We really liked the idea of a village fete theme as we wanted ‘real food’ and a fun atmosphere. When looking at decorations we were drawn to vintage pieces and it all began to fit together.
We both love colour and did not want to restrict ourselves to a set colour theme so we just went with it and were really happy with the end result.
We collected over 90 vintage tea cups and saucers from car boot sales, family friends and ebay. These looked beautiful on the trestle tables and were later used to serve tea and coffee.
We discovered the church whilst out walking our dog and loved how it was so beautiful and hidden away. We really wanted a ‘village fete’ theme to our wedding reception, so Shardlow Village hall was the perfect choice.
We were so lucky to find Andrew and Cassie! It felt like we had two more friends at our wedding. We met up before the big day and instantly felt at ease, they listened to our ideas and captured the day perfectly. We love how our photographs are unique and picked up all the little personalised touches that we spent so long planning.
If we could impart any words of wisdom? Enjoy every minute! Especially the run up to the wedding… plan until your hearts content and include all those little personalised details that people will always remember.
Do not be frightened to ask for something that you think others might think silly e.g. asking your photographers if your dog can feature in your wedding photographs! It is your special day; make it as unique as you!
Our most memorable moments were… All of it! From waking up to standing outside the church. Seeing Mark’s face as I walked down the aisle. Eating fish and chips and dancing the night away, to the very last song ‘all I want for Christmas’ then walking home in my wedding dress with my husband.
Awww how lovely! I love how relaxed this wedding is, it’s got a real homely fun vibe going on and GREAT last dance choice! You gotta love a Christmas song in the middle of summer ;)
Massive congrats to our sweet couple, Mr & Mrs Cole and thanks to Andrew & Cassie Craner for sharing this pretty wedding with the WTW blog.
