One vintage era I just don’t see enough of is the 70s and especially 1970s inspired weddings. Maybe it’s a decade brides feel a little scared of? Of course, there’s a huge trend for floral crowns and the boho look which has a distinct 60s / 70s vibe, but I definitely wanna see more 70s wedding dresses please. When it comes to getting the vintage look right, I personally think the key is to marry the vintage (ahem) with a modern twist.
So when this 70s inspired bridal shoot dropped into my inbox, I have to admit, I got a little bit squeeee over it. The team had one model, one awesome dress and 3 distinct looks. The results? Well, see for yourself… I LOVE it!
A call to Deborah Ellis, proprietor of Madam Popoff’s Vintage soon resolved this issue. Madam Popoff had a couple of dresses she thought suitable, I knew if they were good by her fashion standards they would be perfect for us. We ended up using this amazing caped style dress. I have honestly never seen anything like it.
Working closely with our amazing MUA Lucy Moat we decided to really push ourselves and go for three looks, each stage working off the last to create different looks with a strong theme running through. The limitations were one model, no props except flowers and time.
Liam and Amanda our hairdressers fully researched the period and had enough ideas for about ten looks and our wonderful model Katka certainly had enough hair for all of them!
I’m totally crazeee about these gorgeous 70s bridal looks! Just can’t make up my mind whether I’m a boho or glam rock chick! Hmmm, maybe both. The white henna decorating the models hands is ridiculously pretty too, could this be a brand new bridal trend?
Thank you so much to Alan Langley and the talented team for sharing this awesome 1970s Bridal Fashion | Wedding Inspiration Shoot.
