Morning lovelies! I am so excited to share today’s gorgeous wedding with you. It’s a lovely polka dot themed wedding at a stunning beach-side setting, Tunnels Beaches.
James and Rhiannon are a super sweet couple and I adore so many details of their gorgeous day. Rhiannon’s dress with the lace sleeve bolero is AMAZING and suits her down to a T and I love her choice of the subtle polka dot theme.
I’ll now hand you over to Rhiannon so she can tell you all about her wonderful day.
We met in a grimy club where James played bass guitar in a band about 7 years ago. Several years and dates later, James moved to Bournemouth to live with me and proposed on the evening that we moved in together.

My wedding dress was designed by Kate Sherford and bought from the lovely Christine at Aisle, Alter, Hymn in Wiviliscombe. I originally thought that I would choose a sleek vintage lace dress, but fell in love with the silhouette that this one gave. I also like to support local people, and Kate Sherford’s dresses are all designed and made in Taunton, Somerset – where we currently live.
Eleanor Yeo designed our flowers. We chose Eleanor as I wanted something different and my love of all things vintage drew me in when I read that she specialises in vintage style flowers. She is a lovely lady with an endless knowledge of flowers and amazing ideas! She understood exactly what I wanted and I was so pleased with them. Table arrangements were done by my very talented Mum! I wore a lace bolero made from the lace from my Grandma’s wedding dress, and a vintage fur stole that I found on ebay. I adore polka dots and fell in love with these bridesmaid dresses from Modcloth so had them sent from America! They set a bit of a polka dotty theme going! We wanted somewhere relaxed and informal to marry, and most of all something different. After hours of me trawling the internet and wedding magazines, James found Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe in minutes. We visited on a freezing cold drizzly day, and still fell in love with the place. My mum and I made marmalade wedding favours for each of our guests.
One of the most memorable moments of my wedding day was standing at the end of the Tunnel, holding my dads hand, hearing our song start to play and having the hugest smile on my face. My dad put his arm out and whispered “I think we are supposed to link arms!” but we walked down the aisle holding hands.
I saw it as a bit of a statement that having him walk me down the aisle was more than just a formality; I was incredibly proud to have one of my best friends beside me and wanted everybody to see that.
My Dad walked me down the aisle to ‘One Day Like This’ by Elbow.
We then took inspiration from Shrek and walked back down the aisle to ‘I’m a Believer’ by The Monkees!
Our wedding photographer Helen Lisk was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. She was so lovely and understood exactly what we wanted, and has produced such an amazing set of photos that we adore.
She was nearly as excited as I was before the wedding and was great fun to have around, nothing was too much trouble and she just made us feel so comfortable (neither of us are naturals in front of the camera but she did such an amazing job! We finally have photos of the two of us in which neither of us are blinking or pulling faces!).
It was just like having another friend at the wedding and I cannot recommend her enough.
I’m so proud to have written my own vows and speech. The opportunity to tell your friends and family how much they mean to you doesn’t come around very often and I’m so glad that I did. So many people commented that they had never been to a wedding where either of these had been done and it allowed us to show our own personalities.
Our ice cream cupcakes were inspired by our beach setting, and made by our lovely friend Michelle Cross. They were absolutely yummy! We also had a cake topper figurine made of the pair of us stood on top of an M&S fruit cake.
My ring is an Ungar & Ungar ring, from Clive Ranger. I love the art deco style. James wanted something a bit more manly, so opted for a platinum ring from a local jewellers.
How utterly lovely is this wedding huh? I love it, you really get a sense of James and Rhiannon’s laid back and fun personalties! Thank you so much for sharing with the WTW blog and I hope married life is treating you well.
