Today’s real wedding had a classic white theme with traditional and subtle vintage touches, all set in the ultra-romantic setting of a rustic vineyard. Swoon!
Stacy looked princess-like in her beautiful gown, with layer upon layer of heavenly tulle and lace, luckily for them, the talented Hazel of Hazel Buckley Photography was there to capture Stacy, Simon and bump’s romantic white vineyard wedding, in all its glory.
Words by Stacy.
We chose the vineyard because it was the perfect location to combine both the reception and the ceremony in the one place. With a lot of interstate guests it was important to us there was no need to travel in between.
The McLaren Vale wine region is picturesque and set a perfect background for our ceremony and photographs, particularly at this time of the year as the vines are developing autumn colours.
I wanted a dress that had a vintage and feminine feel that was also classic and modest. I loved the sleeves on this dress and the lace fabric was so beautiful and detailed. I added a belt/sash to accentuate the waistline and add a bit of a sparkle to the dress.
I felt like a princess!
I fell in love with the bridesmaid dresses and altered the whole wedding colour scheme so we could get them!!
All the bouquets were actually artificial and created by Stephen’s mother. My bouquet had my Nanny Kennedy’s pearls wrapped around the stems.
Originally I wasn’t going to have a veil, but everyone else thought that I should, and once I tried it on, I had to get it.
I also had a locket pinned inside my dress (I did not wear a necklace because of the detailed neckline on the dress) which my husband bought for me as a gift.
On the morning of the wedding my mother gave it to me, Stephen had organised the locket and pin with a photograph of my father inside.
The locket was pinned over my heart for the day.
Uncle Mick, my Father’s brother in law and my god father gave me away. We walked down the aisle to ‘Colours of the Wind’, played by violinist Paul Raubiszko.
Our photographer was Hazel Buckley. We were lucky enough to have a close family friend who recommended her, and Hazel flew from Perth WA to Adelaide for our special day. We met that week and did a beautiful engagement shoot on the beach to get to know each other before the big day.
She was an absolute delight and spent the whole day from start to finish celebrating with us and capturing beautiful memories. Our photos are just stunning. We were also so impressed with the turnaround time in getting our edited photos back. Just amazing.
If you could impart any words of wisdom for future brides-to-be, what would they be?
Do what feels right for you both, not what everyone is expecting you to do. You can have an amazing day by following your instincts and creating memories for you, not your guests!
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
Between the ceremony and the reception when we were doing photographs was amazing, because we were close together, with the opportunity to talk and relax without many people except some of our closest friends around us at the time.
When we returned to our little cottage after the reception was great because we were just with each other for the first time since becoming husband and wife and were no longer running to a schedule.
What an utter classic! Loving this romantic white wedding and the gorgeous images from Hazel Buckley.
Have you thought about where your creative wedding shoot might take place on the big day? A vineyard does make a totally romantic setting, doesn’t it?!
Big love to Stacy & Simon, thank you so much for sharing your big day with the want that wedding blog :) XxX
