I must admit, I’ve been super nervous to feature this post and have put it off and then some. Pfft. Why? I hear you ask. Well, it’s actually my own wedding day – well vow renewal anyway, and I’m super critical of the way I look!
Since my original wedding day I have packed on the pounds and failed to lose almost all of them. It truly seems like nothing will motivate me into loosing this extra chubbage – not even the fear of looking fat in photos (FOLFIP). So here it is. The cold hard truth. Me. Fat. On my wedding day.
But hang on a minute. I mean like seriously. What the f*ck am I saying to myself? Would I judge another on my own ridiculous weight standards. Hell no! Do I think that bigger isn’t beautiful? No. No and NO.
Was my vow renewal about the way I looked? Certainly not. Was it was about love? That’ll be a big fat YES – Just Chris and I re-affirming our wedding vows and promises to each other in a hella beautiful setting. Writing our own meaningful wedding vows. Celebrating our relationship and never forgetting why we originally said ‘I do’.
So without further ado (or anymore Sonia bashing) here is our beautiful vow renewal at the gorgeous Galley Bay Resort & Spa in the Caribbean.
Gold & Champagne, Glam Beach | Destination Vow Renewal in Antigua: Sonia & Chris
My beautiful wedding dress was a stunning Maggie Sottero gown, very kindly loaned by Pirouette Bridal. A lady called Tania helped me to find a gown that was suitably me – she was absolutely amazing and certainly knows her stuff!
I loved the glamour and subtle sparkle of this champagne gown with it’s intricate gold beaded overlay – it really reminded me of the gown Kate Moss wore on her wedding day.
My pretty gold shoes were a bargain from Oasis.
The setting for our vow renewal was right on the beach – I asked for simple white flowers and wanted an elegant, relaxed look.
My hair was styled in loose, boho beachy waves – it’s not normally a style I go for as I’m far too lazy to do it myself. I absolutely loved it though!
Our wedding coordinator was called Jenny and she went above and beyond to ensure everything we wanted was perfect. She even helped me into my dress!
Chris looked stylish and handsome in his blue ASOS suit. It was super affordable and a surprisingly well made suit.
I was really surprised at all the emotion that came out as we read our vows to each other. I blubbed the whole way through…
Chris was so sweet though and dabbed away my tears…
I was incredibly lucky to wear some beautiful jewellery from Diamonds International. It pulled my whole look together and made me feel special.
Our wedding cake was a proper Caribbean wedding cake made with lots of rum and fruit. Yum!
Our wedding photographer Mark was supplied by Galley Bay Resort and he really put us at ease.
We even had fun having a few pics taken with these super goofy dogs. This image above still makes me laugh.
The Galley Bay Resort in Antigua is a stunning location to get married and honeymoon. Its beauty is just like the natural surroundings. Laid back, rustic luxury – we loved it – and now it will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Overall, Chris and I just cannot recommend getting married in the Caribbean enough. It’s perfect for an intimate elopement or for taking your nearest and dearest.
My special moments of the day were Chris and I saying our vows again. We both ended with exactly the same words…
I love you more today than I did yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow…
Thank you so much to Elite Island Resorts and Kuoni for inviting us to experience this wonderful place.
Keep an eye out as I will be sharing my must read tips for the do’s and the super important don’ts of getting married in the Caribbean.

Special thanks too for the loans Diamonds International & Pirouette Bridal.
