Not only is today’s real wedding ridiculously gorgeous – it’s also super cry-your-eyes-out emosch!
When it came to the styling of their big day, Susy and Eugene complemented the contemporary style of their wedding venue opting for a minimalist style and using raw organic materials such as wood, glass and pretty white flowers.
The natural foliage chandeliers with bare edison bulbs are a particularly pretty focal point and Susy’s beautiful lace sleeved wedding dress of course!

Robyn Roberts created my dress – I saw this dress in her collection and loved the fit and especially the Chantilly lace.
I went to her and she created this dress for me with some custom changes. My dream was always to wear a dress that was similar to the Berta collection.
Eugene surprised me on our wedding with a wedding band – It is a rose gold Swarovski band. I had his wedding band made in Nelspruit. It is a matt rose gold band.
I wore a silver headpiece with silver diamante studs and also loaned a veil from Robyn Roberts too.
The bridesmaid dresses were white, long and flowy. I paired them with brown sandals with gold threaded through for a Grecian style.
My dad gave me away, we walked down the aisle to Heaven by Bryan Adams (it was a youtube version sang by a girl).
What I also did was not have a bouquet made up – all the ladies who have played an important role in my life brought me a flower, and then handed each to me while I walked down the aisle.
Eugene then knotted the bouquet with lace.
The most memorable moment was definitely walking into the church, I had no idea that it was going to be so emotional, I was in so much tears and when I got to the front I just hugged my Eugene for about 5 minutes, I was so glad and happy to be there with him.

The venue is very contemporary with raw wood and lots of glass windows over looking the beautiful landscapes of Stellenbosch. To add to the venue I wanted to keep it very minimalist with green foliage and white flowers in glass vases.
My maid of honour Gabi Lipman Lane has her own company and she assisted with all the wedding preparations and decorations. Her company name is “Setting Your Scene”.
I had seen pictures of flowers that hung from frames in the ceiling and decided I definitely need that, so my wedding planner made it happen.
She also suggested the naked bulbs to hang around around the dance floor and above the bridal table.
We had all our guests names made from wood which they could take home with them.
Limnos bakery made my beautiful 32 inch Croquembouche wedding cake.
For our first dance I actually surprised my husband. He always wanted to dance to I don’t know much by Aaron Neville and I was against it so we had decided on another song, and then on the night I asked the dj to play that track.
If you could impart any words of wisdom to future brides planning their wedding day, what would they be?
Budget, Budget, Budget and try to stay within your budget. This can cause many fights between you and your fiancé, ensure you do this right.
What a wonderful wedding and how amazing was that idea of collecting all the flowers for your wedding bouquet as you walk down the aisle?
It was so lovely to see Susy collect the flowers from the special women in her life – and what a romantic touch it was for Eugene to tie the flowers with lace at the end of the aisle.
