Katie & Mickie’s Swedish island wedding weekend is gracing the blog today and I must say… I just adore this fun filled wedding weekend.
It’s full of charming Swedish traditions and lots of lovely wedding styling -think long wedding tables and colourful chairs with wild flowers and ferns as table decor!
The images from Nordica Photography are really atmospheric too and help to tell the story of Katie & Mickie’s Swedish island wedding weekend! Enjoy.

Since I’m American and Micke is Swedish, we knew the chances of getting all of our favorite people in one place again was not high. With that in mind, we wanted to get everyone together for a whole wedding weekend and to have a great party. We found the beautiful island of Fejan in Stockholm’s archipelago and were instantly in love.
We gathered 60 of our nearest friends and family for a few relaxed and fun days together, swimming in the ocean, playing games, make s’mores by the bonfire and dancing until 4am.
As we planned our wedding from start to finish, we focused most on making it as personal as possible. In addition to all the details that we created to reflect us as a couple, we also had our officiant who was the reason that we met, the rehearsal dinner on Friday that was made by Katie’s cousin, two friends who made our wedding cake and a group of 10 friends and family that worked so hard to decorate the island before we arrived. Their contributions made it really special for us.
We got married by the shores of the Baltic Sea on a gorgeous spring day. As we walked around the island taking pictures after the ceremony, we saw moss covered forests and fields of white flowers blooming on wild garlic.
After a chilly reception on the docks, we came inside for a delicious meal of asparagus and cucumber soup, lamb and wild strawberry sorbet with mint and elderberry. We are still thinking about those flavors.
Our menu was one of a kind, designed from a list of ingredients that we had suggested and that Fejan’s owner and chef David created a menu from.
We followed the Swedish traditions during dinner of mixed seating on long tables, toastmasters who organized the many wonderful speeches we received and kissing the bride or groom when one left the table.
Out of all the incredible memories we have of the weekend, one of our favorites was looking around during the dinner at all the happy, laughing faces. It was perfect.

So many wonderful images, kind of like behind the scenes photos, amazing.
The views at that location must have been magnificent during the sunset! Looks like it was a very traditional wedding, with the added flair of rustic elements! Love how they incorporated in pictures, maps and ambient lighting to make it feel cozy.
