Ranunculus just happen to be my favourite wedding flower ever. Throw in some super romantic David Austin Rose’s and well, I’m in wedding flower heaven!
Today’s real wedding is all about the florals for me. Ashlee our gorgeous bride wore one of the prettiest wedding gowns I’ve ever seen – it has a stunning floral applique and is so elegant and unique – she looks gorgeous.
Ashlee & Luke had a white wedding theme and married in a super modern chapel over looking the water.

My theme was a ‘white wedding’ so I wanted all different kinds of white flowers. The David Austin Roses and Ranunculus were soft and lush and the Singapore Orchids at the reception made the centerpieces look so grand!
The bridesmaid’s wore gorgeous accessories from Kate Spade.
Pallas Couture makes exquisite gowns that are romantic, modern and unique. The lace detail was breathtaking and the moment I tried the dress on I knew it was the one. You don’t buy a dress off the rack at Pallas, each dress is made to measure and the process is almost as exciting as the final product.
I spent a lot of time on Pinterest. In fact, I thanked Pinterest in my speech. Luke and I both like modern architecture. We saw the chapel, fell in love with it and styled our wedding around it. Luke’s only request was to be near water, so to have the river behind us in the chapel was perfect
My mum and dad, walked me down the aisle to ‘How long will I love you’ sang by Amy Kate Music.
Amy performed in the chapel during the ceremony and during cocktail hour. I heard her playing last Christmas at a shopping centre and fell in love with her voice. The guests all agreed she has such a special voice.
We chose the Intercontinental as our wedding venue as we’ve only lived in Brisbane for 18 months and previously lived in New South Wales our whole lives, so wanted someone that provided accommodation for all our guests. Amelia the wedding coordinator there was absolutely fabulous and put both of us at ease with
Luke and I have been together for seven years. Luke proposed on Christmas Eve 2013 with my whole family there.
Our most memorable moment was seeing each other for the first time at the chapel, also, Ben our wedding photographer knew a special spot to get some photos in the long grass. While he had a 4WD, the bridal party had a 12 seater mini bus that wasn’t cut out for the terrain. It was worth almost rolling the mini bus to get the photos!
Our third most memorable moment – our MC was a good friend of ours and she was 35 weeks pregnant. She completely stole the show and had our guests in stitches. We’ve had other friends ask us if she’d do their wedding!
Ben is such a natural photographer and Luke and I felt instantly comfortable about him. One of our favourite parts of the day was getting photos with the bridal party. Ben made it fun, we laughed the entire time and the natural beauty Ben captures in his photos is priceless.
When it came to decoratingthe venue we put so many festoon lights up we didn’t need to turn the venues lights on! We also had a neon heart sign.
For the wedding cake, Luke wanted a sticky date layer and I wanted carrot cake – Melissa our cake maker was happy to create us any flavour we wanted! We also had a mars-bar mud cake layer. The white sugar flowers matched our white theme.
Our first dance was to ‘Like I’m Gonna Lose You’ by Megan Trainor & John Legend. We just both loved the song from the moment we first heard it.
If you could impart any words of wisdom to a future brides planning their wedding day, what would they be?
Stay organised. Keep in touch with your suppliers and confirm everything prior to the day – don’t always expect an email from six months ago to be good enough. Being well organised helps everything to run seamlessly on the day – and there’s no better feeling than seeing all your hard work come together.
