Beautiful Fine Art ‘Woodland’ Engagement Shoot With Autumnal Colours: Tyler & Laiken

How did you meet and fall in love?

We both grew up in the same hometown, and even went to the same high school! Apparently being one year apart was enough to keep us from being introduced until our twenties through friends. Tyler broke his leg one summer and we became best friends while he recovered in his full leg cast.

Probably because he couldn’t run away in his wheelchair and I just kept showing up to hang out. We were so shy but eventually we just looked at each other and knew. We still say “boop” as a code for ‘I love you’ which we used to say before we admitted that we liked each other!

Tell us all about your proposal!

After my college graduation, we decided to celebrate by going to Cuba. Tyler let is slip that he had bought a ring, and my inner Nancy Drew suspected a proposal on the trip. But then days went by. DAYS. We had so many romantic moments on the trip where I thought “this is it”.

Finally after dropping some major hints, he proposed on the 8th day in the middle of flowers, music, and seashells he’d set up. It was beautiful! We spent the last couple of days shouting “WE GOT ENGAGED!” around the resort! We still joke about how he made me wait for those 8 days  knowing that the ring was in the safety deposit box! Worth the wait!

Tell us all about your wedding plans

We are tying the knot at the beautiful Kurtz Orchards in Niagara-on-the-Lake on June 25th, 2016. The endless rows of trees and gorgeous estate sets the perfect backdrop for a dreamy outdoor wedding.

Bohemian touches and an organic feel will be theme of our formal affair. We can’t wait to dine under the pear trees and dance the night away under the stars with friends and family.

Laiken, you knew it was love when..?

I knew I loved him when I pushed his wheelchair from his house to my house and back again, just to give him some fresh air. Really it was just an excuse to spend time together. There were some big hills, it must have been love! I knew I wanted to marry him when I couldn’t think of a day when I hadn’t laughed because of him.

Suddenly my best friend was the person I pictured my life with. We laugh so much, until our cheeks hurt,  until we can hardly breathe through the laughs. We laugh so often that we can’t remember how our inside-jokes even started.

Through all of the romance of a new relationship and an engagement, I remember most all of the laughing.

Tyler, you knew it was love when..?

Laiken took me to the fair recently after I broke my leg. We spent the day trying new foods and drinks, playing games and laughing the whole time. She kept helping me with my crutches and taking breaks so I could rest.

The day was winding down and we went on the ferris wheel and were overlooking the city. With the atmosphere and great day together I looked at her and I knew I loved her. Of course, all I could say was ‘boop’, but she knew what I meant.

We rode that ferris wheel three times.

Oh aren’t they just the sweetest couple! So in love :)) I can’t wait to see their wedding in 2016. Congratulations Taylor & Laiken!!
