5 Budget Saving Tips on how to Reduce your Wedding Flower & Decor Costs!

Here’s the dilemma. You’re planning your wedding but you’re on a super tight budget. You urgently need to look into ways of saving the cash on your big day…

Wedding decor and particularly flowers can be a significant cost when planning a wedding so TSB Bank asked me to share my top tips for saving money when it comes to these wedding day necessities.

Reign it in

Sounds boring I know, but it doesn’t have to be. Keep your ideas SIMPLE. I promise you don’t need everything for your wedding to be a stylish and thoughtful affair. DIY what you can, you’ll save muchos pounds and have so much fun creating a few pretty wedding projects with your nearest and dearest.

Re-use, borrow & re-cycle

When it comes to wedding decor, who says everything has to be brand spanking new? Why not re-use, borrow or re-cycle?

Look around you, chances are that you have many pretty things decorating your home (or your friends and families homes) that you love, so why not incorporate some of those into your wedding day.

Ask your wedding florist what decor they might have that they could loan you, you’ll be surprised at what they could lend you.

Move things around

Don’t pay to decorate areas where there won’t be much foot fall. Consider moving around your wedding flowers and decor, particularly from the ceremony to the reception.

Think outside the box

Flowers can be incredibly expensive so think carefully before splashing all your cash. Choose flowers that are local and in season, ask your florist to use cheaper filler foliage in your arrangements or even opt for one beautiful single stem arrangement.

Other flower options could be forgo flowers all together (I know) or purchase them wholesale from a market or flower farm and arrange yourself.

When it comes to wedding decor. Buy second hand – it isn’t as bad as it sounds. There are many re-selling wedding websites where past brides are selling their only used once wedding items. You’ll be amazed at the bargains to be had.

Minimise & reduce

The biggest money saving tip for any wedding is to consider how big your guest list will be. The smaller the wedding the less resources you’ll require – which includes floral arrangements and space too, which of course will impact on your decor.
