Incredible Hand-fasting Wedding With Matching Tattoo Rings: Shelby & Brandt

Now this is one sweet ass wedding! Shelby & Brandt had an incredible hand-fasting ceremony followed by a tattoo session getting their ring fingers inked in roman numerals of their wedding day. What a way to say I do. So unique and so sweet!

I’m Catholic so I wanted that incorporated into the ceremony. We had prayers and psalms read that were Catholic to reflect that. We also wanted something meaningful and traditional of Ireland that we could then pass on to our children one day, so we chose the hand-fasting ceremony. We will pass on our chord to our children one day to use when they get married.

Brandt’s suit was custom made by Victor Valentine.

For my flowers I wanted a simple small cascade bouquet of lilies.

I walked down the aisle to ‘Nothing Else Matters’ by Metallica; it was played on the harp and as I walked down the aisle Romy our celebrant began reciting the lyrics like a poem.

Instead of exchanging wedding bands we opted to get matching tattoos. We chose the date of our wedding written in Roman script that we tattooed on our ring fingers. During the ceremony we used “stand-in” rings to symbolize that part until we could get the tattoos right after. We also wanted another symbol to remind us of Ireland and getting married there; so we chose the Waterlily Weddings logo! It was perfect.

The castle is pretty ornate on its own; so we didn’t add anything to the decor.

We ate at the Waterford Castle restaurant; a private candle-lit dinner for just the two of us (very romantic!)

Our wedding photographer was Wim of In Love Photography.

Getting our tattoos and taking the pictures around the castle grounds and Waterford City were our most memorable moments. It was fun shooting the shots for our video too.

Such a cool wedding elopement. Loving the hand-fasting ceremony and those tattoo rings. Yes.

  1. What a special wedding! Such an incredible and unique way to signify love through the hand-fasting ceremony and tattooing. Looks like a truly beautiful day to have captured, and done so well by the photographers. Photo booths are also a great idea to capture the guests and bridal party interacting on the day – a fantastic way to see genuine, special moments.
