‘And Then There Were None’ A Contemporary Art Deco Inspired Bridal Shoot

Happy Friday wedding lovers! This dazzling shoot from Lemontree Photography and make up artist Francis Moore gives a romantic and contemporary twist on the revered Art Deco period. Inspired by an Agatha Christie adaptation and brought to life in a National trust property, dotted with 30s furniture – you’ll be inspired to pull off your own vintage inspired wedding day.

Words by Francis Moore.

The inspiration for the styled shoot came to me whilst watching an adaption of Agatha Christie’s ‘And Then There Were None’. Considered Christie’s masterpiece, I was enthralled by the geometric designs of the set, the costumes…and of course, the makeup.

I’ve always had a passion for the influential art deco period with it’s characteristic warm colours, bold designs and opulent furniture. Not to mention the chic fashion and ‘Old Hollywood’ call back makeup. All of these elements helped to shape the look and feel of the contemporary art deco shoot.

Much of the additional touches came from the venue itself. A real gem. Portland House, located in Weymouth, once owned by a young gentlemen during the 1930’s who died suddenly before seeing the house completed – which was designed by Lord Gerald Wellesley.

The house seemed to have that ‘just popped out’ look with all the original furniture still in tact and used. With rumoured links to Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII – you definitely got the impression there must be some stories in those walls!

My initial forethought for this styled shoot was to inspire. Much like I was when watching a literal masterpiece come to screen. That excitement and prospect of taking on something that inspires them to create, followed by ‘how am I going to do this?’ And then to find something like this shoot to give a bride that confidence to say ‘yeah, I can do this!’
