This rad bride and groom didn’t have a particular theme for their wedding day – what started out as one thing, ended up being something entirely different! But they didn’t mind; at the end of the day, they just chose things they liked and what worked for them.
What I particularly love about this wedding, though, is that they were totally themselves and created a great juxtaposition between a rustic romantic blush wedding and a quirky alternative day.

I had two dresses – one for the Ceremony/Wedding Breakfast – the second for was for the evening reception, Dress one was “Hedy” By Lyn Ashworth bought from Georgina Pimm Bridal.
I fell in love with this dress because of the vintage yet traditional look of it. It is completely different to what I thought I wanted in my head (long sleeved and heavily embellished is what I had in mind!) but as soon as I tried this ivory silk gown on, I just fell for the simplicity of it. I added the belt for a little touch of embellishment, but that is all it needed!
I also had two pairs of shoes (one for each dress). They were both from ASOS own brand and exactly the same shoe, but different colours!
The Groomsmen wore ASOS own brand suits with Noose & Monkey waistcoats. We went for the classic black tux for a timeless feel and something that would suit all of them! The groom also wore a pocket watch – a wedding present from myself that he received that morning!
Swallows Nest Barn had so many beautiful features such as the large red brick barn with a beautiful courtyard which was always on display due to the extensive floor to ceiling windows. It was a perfect venue for any number of guests which is just what we wanted.
I spent a lot of time looking at different styles of flowers, wondering which colours I should go for. I would definitely say that it was one of the hardest decisions I had to make! In the end, I went for pinks and whites including roses, lily of the valley and gypsophila. I also had wheelbarrows filled with flowers and an archway of vines and flowers at the entrance of the venue.
I would have to say that the ceremony was the most memorable moment. There is nothing more significant than declaring your love to the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. When you are stood up there, it feels like it’s just the two of you and the registrar, and nothing else matters! And on the plus side, my husband nailed the first kiss as man and wife!!
Our wedding photographer Ed Godden is truly an amazing photographer. We had a pre-wedding shoot with him and from the get go, we felt comfortable and at ease.
On the wedding day, it was like seeing an old friend and a warm face. He is such a talented individual who we cannot fault. Our pictures are so special to us.
For the Decor, we hired chair sashes from debonair styling to give some colour to the room. We also hired a sequined table cloth from there for the cake table to add a little glitz!
For the ceremony, we had jars of candles and gypsophila along each side of the aisle and scattered flower petals trailing down. There were large vases of flowers in each corner of the room, helping give a really elegant feel.
Spotted around the venue were large gold ornate mirrors with messages on them welcoming the guests. There were also candles on gold sprayed logs spotted around (you can never have too many candles!).
In the bar/dance area, we had light up letters L&A on the back wall, because – why not?!
As it was summer, we really wanted a cake that was light and airy rather than a traditional heavy cake! We opted for a semi-naked cake, with 4 tiers alternating lemon and victoria sponge with vanilla buttercream icing. It was heaven!
To decorate, we had real flowers placed on the cake to help tie in with everything else.
I never intended on buying a second dress until my mum suggested it, but the more I thought about it the more it sounded like a good idea! I wanted to go for something sexy for the evening – almost “Jessica Rabbit” like. The fitted body with the fish tale was perfection!
If we could impart any words of wisdom we would say… Enjoy it! It is all over so so quickly! It gets stressful sometimes, but just remember you are planning your wedding day! I would also say get your partner involved, they can come in handy and it’s good to share the experience together.
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Dennison. Gorgeous wedding!
