1960s Vintage Boho Wedding at Tunnels Beaches: Nickie & Liam

Liam and Nickie met on a dating site…

“We met at Liverpool street station and had a brilliant first date. It just felt right from the start and we moved in together after only 7 months, Liam proposed when we were on holiday in Santorini 18 months into our relationship and we married after less than three years together. It was all rather quick but when you know, why wait!”

This is their super sweet 1960s vintage-boho beach wedding!

I have always loved the 1960s vintage style and that has inspired my day to day style since I was about 11 years old. I knew I wanted an element of vintage 60s and with the beachside wedding I wanted it to be a little more Boho than swinging 60s, I was aware that I didn’t want it to look too much like a costume and went for a modern style with a vintage boho feel.

As I wanted a boho 60s feel wedding Deryn my florist talked me through some ideas. I wanted a rounded bouquet and didn’t want a colour theme as such, so I needed flowers that would compliment the bridesmaid’s dresses rather than match!

I always wanted the high front and low back for my wedding dress and I had to have a proper train! Carol was able to take her original pattern from her Etsy shop and incorporate my ideas by lengthening the train shortening the sleeves redesigning the back and adding lace covered buttons and the lace trim to make my very own bespoke vintage style boho dress. I wanted something individual and classy with a

I wanted something individual and classy with a boho-feel without the risk of looking too dated in the future when looking back on our photos!

Tunnels Beaches was the first and only venue we looked at. The moment we walked through The Tunnel and saw the breathtaking views i had tears in my eyes and we both knew immediately this was where we were going to marry. It just felt so right.

My Brother gave me away and gave the ‘Brother of the bride’s speech’ as my Dad sadly passed away in 2005.

Walking down the aisle and seeing my Husband-to-be sobbing and telling me how beautiful I looked was one of the most memorable moments of the day.

Most of our wedding decorations were from Etsy and Ebay. A lot of the Etsy items I bought were from the USA, so plan ahead and allow enough time for shipment. Our favours turned up a week before the wedding!

Our cake maker Sonia Daniels is now based in Kent, but at the time she was local to our venue. Our Naked Wedding cake was absolutely stunning and tasted amazing. It was the talk of the day!

I Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley was our first dance song… it came on the radio when we were in the car and I had tears streaming down my face, Liam said this should be our first dance and that was it!

My Dad was a big Elvis fan and whenever I hear Elvis I feel like my Dad is with us. It was perfect.

If I could impart any words of wisdom I would say…

Planning a wedding is stressful and I organised everything myself, however, don’t be afraid to delegate and ask for help from your Bridesmaids, that’s what they are there for!

Try not to stress on the day of the wedding, if something isn’t done or gone quite to plan, don’t worry it will still be perfect. We had 60mph gale force winds and after our very windy outside ceremony we all rushed inside, even our BBQ style wedding breakfast ended up inside.

It wasn’t the sunny, beachy, BBQ wedding I’d imagined but it was still the perfect day.

Love this 60s-esq wedding with its sweet boho vibe? Massive congrats to Nickie & Liam – we just adore your Tunnels Beach wedding.

  1. Both Liam and Nickie looked stunning in their wedding dress. The polka dot necktie was a great choice with the suit and it enhanced the beauty of the dress. Nickie looked beautiful in her vintage look. The choice of the wedding venue was also great! Tunnels Beaches is an exotic location perfect for such a beautiful wedding. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful memory and the photographs!
