Old Hollywood Glam & Paper Flowers Real Wedding: Phil & Cat

Phil and Cat planned their wedding in only 3 months and their wedding inspiration started with a pair of shoes! With an old Hollywood style vibe and the use of muted metallics and deep turquoise hues, this lovely wedding will inspire those looking for environmentally friendly wedding ideas!

The decor consisted mainly of paper flowers made up from old books, candles and spray painted bottles to create simple, but eye-catching centrepieces.

Words by Cat. Images bu Oobaloos Photography,

I had a really clear idea of the wedding dress I wanted in my head but I couldn’t find it in current collections. In the end, I found this dress which was from a few years ago, it was being sold second hand – although never worn. It was a few sizes too big so needed some serious alterations, but it was worth it in the end!

I loved our flowers, they were all paper and handmade by my bridesmaid and cousin Mary. As well as being more environmentally friendly, paper meant we could have the colours we wanted that wouldn’t have been possible with real flowers. Some were also made from book pages as Phil is a big reader. Added bonus, we get to keep them as a memento of our day.

The bridesmaid dresses were from Vivien of Holloway – an amazing independent shop in London.

My dad walked me down the aisle, I’m the youngest and the only girl so it was a big moment for him!

We walked down the aisle to a piano version of Oblivion by Bastille.

The amazing Sheryl Fish, of Oobaloos Photography, was our wedding photographer. I’m so happy that we had Sheryl, not only did we love her style but I also loved her from the first phone call!

Sheryl is so much fun and put us both totally at ease. We had guests telling us how great she was and we now have beautiful photographs that we will always treasure.

For wedding decor we had lots of candles around the venue and spray painted bottles in our wedding colours as centrepieces – a friend did them all for us along with the place cards. We added candles and paper flowers to finish them off.

If we could offer any advice to others planning a wedding we would say. Trust your choices and don’t let the wedding planning stress you out! We only booked our wedding 3 months ahead, it meant we had to make quick decisions but we didn’t have any time to worry or second guess them.

Loving the paper flowers in this wedding, and the colour combo of copper, gold and turquoise is so unique!
