This week’s wedding inspiration is an all-out pretty palette of Blush and Blossoms. Why not soak up the feeling of Spring and use it in your wedding styling? Flowers, more flowers, a few dots of blush pink and yes, you guessed it… even more flowers.
There is something so light and dreamy about Blush in a wedding colour palette. For me, it feels like a pink which has been bleached in warm sunlight over time. Perhaps this is why it feels so vintage, so timeless and so classic. But why ‘blossoms’ with Blush? Well, sometimes the beginning of an idea isn’t always a colour palette. It might be a particular object, a texture or even time of day.
When designing and styling for shoots, I will often begin my mood-board with something other than colour. Right now there are beautiful Spring flowers beginning to bloom everywhere; where there had been nothing for months, seemingly overnight, the trees are lush green with clusters of fragrant flowers lining avenues and gardens. And the petals are soft, small, abundant and often white to blush pink.
Therefore, though the colour may be blush, its use should be delicate and soft. Go big with florals, and in the spirit of Spring’s sudden generosity, use them everywhere you can; tables, bouquets, hair, invitations, press them into your stationery and maybe even get way-on-trend and have them embroidered into the fabric of your gown.
And what about the gorgeous way blossom flutters to the ground at this time of year? Petals could be scattered everywhere, down an aisle, across a table; confetti could be fresh blush petals, is there anything more romantic than a bride’s hair showered with tiny flowers?
This is definitely an all-out pretty palette, so don’t hold back on the feminine and the delicate. Sometimes (and I don’t say this often) more is more, and when it comes to florals for a look like this, you cannot have enough.
