This shoot was held at The Fells Historic Estate and Gardens in Newbury, New Hampshire. The Fells is home to 83.5 acres of beauty and tranquillity.
Here, you can learn the legacy of diplomat and statesman John Milton Hay, tour the 22-room Colonial Revival home, explore the forests, walk the woodland trails and enjoy the renowned gardens.
The Fells is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a preservation project of The Garden Conservancy.
The team’s vision behind this shoot was to combine moody and dark bridal styling to offset the innate romance and whimsy of the historic estate.
To stray from the norm, we kept pink and black as our key colours. Dana of Wild + Wed kept the style and design minimalistic to accentuate the natural beauty of the forest.
To add a burst of colour and femininity, we used hot pink smoke bombs.
Ally of Fleurish Floral Design crafted gorgeous florals for the event. The bridal bouquet was the perfect combination of sweet and bold, and the luxurious Honey Silks Velvet Ribbons added just the right amount of edge.
Ally also adorned the back of the bride and groom’s getaway car with lush florals and greenery which popped against the woodland setting.
The bold fringe dress, edgy makeup and unique braided hairstyle came together seamlessly to create the offbeat bridal look.
We wanted to put together a style that non-traditional brides could use as inspiration. Dark bridal fashion shouldn’t be intimidating.
Dani of Paper Cliche utilized the moody vibe of the shoot and designed a flawless stationery suite. She used magenta ink, vellum, watercolour, vegan leather and the pink and black theme colours to craft truly unique stationery.
Dani calligraphied “Love me ‘til my heart stops, love me ‘til I’m dead.” – Talking Heads, the perfect finishing touch to the invites.
