Vintage Wedding Inspiration: Belle Époque, the European Golden Age

We imagined an idyllic, bohemian and romantic atmosphere, something that could perfectly evoke the spirit of that time. The location is a charming, little florist’s shop in Turin, La Bottega di Biancospino: this place gave us the perfect vintage vibes with its old little objects, including real vintage perfume bottles and makeup.

Fresh flowers all over added a lavish touch to the setting. Our bride, Zelda, wore a custom-made wedding dress by Elena Pignata, from her luxurious wedding atelier in Turin; it’s a delicate, romantic gown, very true to the bridal style of the Twenties.

The crown is made of orange flowers and wax pistils, and it was created by Cristina & Signorina, who designed and carefully planned the whole shooting. Her main inspiration actually just came from the bridal style of those years: wax pistils crowns were common among brides of that time because they represented purity.

We also played with two additional hair accessories, both handcrafted by Cristina & Signorina: a pale pink and white comb and a white crown with little pearls, that we added to a sumptuous, swiss dot tulle long veil.

Hairstyling is by Anka Rusu and it’s all about romantic, soft braids and natural texture. Makeup is by Emily D’Adda who used peachy tones to give our bride a gentle glow. The stationery was created by LetteraVentidue and played an important role by giving a decadent feel to the shooting:

Valentina made two versions of the same invitations, one in pure white and deckled edge textured paper combined with a burgundy envelope and another version with regular edges paired with a muted green envelope.

She also added a botanic rose illustration, printed on the same paper. The colour palette perfectly matched the crown and bouquet of English roses, populus and astrantia.
