Romantic Winery Wedding in the Rain: Claire & Bernie

We married on Monday the 4th of November (Melbourne Cup Eve) at the Acacia Ridge Winery Yarra Glen; It was the first venue we viewed, we felt it was us from the moment we drove into the carpark.

For my wedding dress, I wanted something fun and elegant, so the dress I chose was from Anna Campbell’s new line, and I was lucky enough to be the one to make its debut (Lexi Elm). I wore it with an Anna Campbell chapel length veil (Zara).

Bernie wore a black shirt by Daniel Hechter with an ivory self-tie bow tie from Henry Bucks.

We went with a rustic theme and bought our items online. Fairy lights, hessian table runners, laser-cut wooden place cards and home-grown succulents as wedding favours (grown by my mother).

If we could offer other couples advice we would say… Don’t worry about the little things, some of my favourite parts are the things that didn’t exactly go to plan. Don’t worry about the weather. We wanted a bright sunny day but the thunderstorms kept everyone together on the dancefloor and the cloud cover gave us the most amazing photos, we couldn’t be happier.

One of our most memorable moments was taking a moment with my new husband to watch our wedding from a distance. I also loved our first dance as we had choreographed a dance to reflect our personalities to the Ramones remake of ‘Baby I Love You’.
