Soft Earthy Toned Wedding With DIY & Dried Flowers: Debs & James

Soft Earthy Toned Wedding With DIY & Dried Flowers: Debs & James

We were looking for a small, relaxed, super chill venue. The Chilli Barn was perfect and cosy, and surprisingly well within our budget! The surrounding area of the Otley Chevin was amazing for our outdoor shots in the woods. We both love the wild outdoors, so the venue was perfect!

I love nature and wild-looking things, so flowers from my mum’s garden were perfect. I wanted soft, earthy tones with a bit of colour. We were also on a bit of a budget, so Etsy was my friend!

I bought my dress from Confetti & Lace in Farsley, Leeds, which is the village that I was born in. My mum was driving past the shop and popped in on a whim. She booked an appointment and the ladies that worked there were all so amazing and helpful. I fell madly in love with my dress, which was almost a perfect fit. It only needed small alterations which were done at Joana’s Bridal Boutique in Harrogate. She was fantastic and got everything done so quickly and perfectly!

I walked down the aisle to the song ‘You’re So Cool’ by Hans Zimmer, which is the theme tune from the movie True Romance. Which is my favourite movie of all time! It always makes me feel happy when I hear it!

My wedding bouquet was bought from Etsy. I loved the way my dried flower looked and that they will last forever.

We made the flower bunches that were tied on the chair covers. We bought vases from charity shops and filled them with dried flowers from Etsy, fresh flowers from my mum’s garden, and we also hung and dried some of my mum’s flowers too.

The Pampas grass was from a friends garden. We brought our own fairy lights and used some of the venue’s lights that were available to us.

The wedding favours were succulents and cacti from Craghouse Farm.

Running off into the woods to take pictures and have some time to ourselves was one of the most memorable moments of the day, that and slaying the dancefloor to RuPaul in my sparkly Asos dress, with my sister Liz.

Stevie-Jay our wedding photographer is the absolute best! I don’t just mean her bomb ass photos, as those speak for themselves! As soon as we saw her photo gallery we knew we wanted her to be part of our wedding day, and after we met for a brew, we knew she was the one for us.

She is fantastic and we cannot recommend her enough or speak any more highly of her! If you want a relaxed, amazing day whilst still getting all the shots you want, you should get in touch with this rad human! She’s the best!!!

If we could impart any words of wisdom to other couples planning their big day, we would say… Enjoy the ay as it will go really, really fast! Do what YOU want, it is your day so it should make you happy.

If your dress is a bit extra (like mine was) and you want to dance, later on, get a second dress for free movement and that doesn’t matter if it gets a bit messy. I bought a super sparkly dress from Asos and danced barefoot into the wee hours! I felt super free and didn’t have any worries about anyone accidentally standing on my dress.  It had a bit of a train and I still felt very bridal in it.

What an absolutely gorgeous wedding! Loving those earthy tones and all the dried and DIY flowers! Loving the rustic wedding vibe? Follow the links for even more laid back loveliness.
