Real Wedding

Bold & Beautiful Floral Crown Wedding: Betty & Brock

We are Jehovah’s Witnesses so we got married in a Kingdom Hall in Harrietsham and then had the reception at the East Quay. We chose our particular venue because we love Whitstable and the beach and wanted a relaxed vibe.

Bold & Beautiful Floral Crown Boho Wedding: Betty & Brock

I went to a lot of wedding dress shops and hated everything I tried on. I don’t like white/ivory and hated all the traditional styles of dresses. I then found a beautiful top and skirt from Grace Loves Lace in the colour ‘Oyster’ which was fitting because Whitstable is known for their oysters.

We chose the beautiful Sasha because of the natural and relaxed vibe of her photos. She had previously done friends weddings and we loved her images so much.

One thing I have always wanted for my wedding was a huge flower crown, bigger and more beautiful than anything I had ever seen before and that is exactly what I had.

The venue was so stunning you didn’t need to do a lot to make it look beautiful. We used a lot of fairy lights and placed flowers everywhere. I used hoola hoops which I sprayed gold and then covered in eucalyptus which hung from the ceiling – we also wrapped eucalyptus around the stairs.

I hung mini bottles by the bar full of flowers too and had spray-painted crates with our initials on. I dotted them around to use as tables with a suitcase for our cards to go it. My dad made silk runners for the tables which all the wine, bottles full of flowers and over a hundred gold candlesticks went on. We collected the candlesticks from charity shops and vintage fairs over the 6 months we were engaged.

My talented dad also made the amazing LOVE lights which really made the venue extra beautiful. I bought our table numbers from hobby craft, which were 3 big numbers that I spray painted gold. I made the table plans with hoola hoops which I also sprayed gold and then my dad wrapped eucalyptus around them. We pegged every individual name on a piece of string running down the middle which hung from the ceiling

Don’t rush making decisions or buying anything too quickly. If you take your time you’ll end up finding the perfect shoes, dress and accessories which is much better than rushing and buying the first thing you see which fits the theme. And also don’t try and do everything on your own and end up stressing yourself out as everybody offers to help and everyone wants to do what they can so let them help.

We set some time on the wedding day to just go off on our own, take a seat and absorb the day which was really nice.

Also, have the style/colours/theme of what YOU want. Don’t get pushed by other people’s opinions about what’s traditional or acceptable. Some people will say you have to have fruit cake because that’s what you do at weddings, but if you don’t like fruit cake then don’t have fruitcake!
