Au Bon Vieux Temps: An Inspirational Wedding Shoot in Santorini

I always love a styled wedding shoot inspired by different eras, aesthetics, and fashion so when Tie The Knot Santorini create this sensational shoot for us when attending The Secret Owl workshop earlier this April in Santorini, we were blown away.

Oia is the island’s grand dame, loved by creatives, supermodels and A-listing crowds alike.  Its maze-like cobbled streets with hidden alleys and neat limestone homes, where bougainvillaeas and succulents thrive, are simply untouched by time, just like our shooting ground, a sea captain’s home dating back the 19th century, practically unspoiled. Chambers that haven’t been refurbished since the 20ies carried us away into this jewel’s silver-screen feel.

Maria Sila did a wonderful work maintaining that same vibe into our shoot bringing together vintage pieces and giving them a fresh spin with a prism of classic florals by Betty Flowers Santorini and Monstera leaves. Tropical touches incorporated into a photo-booth and our invitation suites by Bright White and our two cakes by Alexandra’s cakes added a touch of modernism and insouciance to the colonial set-up.  Our fer forgé patio furnishings were festooned with velvet fabrics and rustic decorative pieces from Weddings & Whimsy, a nod to the belle epoque.

The fashion was an eclectic mix of Greek Designers such as Made Bride by Antonea who dressed our stunning bride in a lace mermaid gown, Savrani Creations whose vintage hairpiece and heels added the drama of the period. Artisanal precious stones by Kousvelaris brought personality to the bridal trousseau and a fancy stone single served as our main engagement ring. Our groom stylist It’s A Man’s Class dressed the groom to the nines with the print of the season.

Shooting on the premises would have sufficed, yet we couldn’t help but take to the iconic blue domes and bell towers strewn across Oia town. The nonchalant, stunning views of the dizzying caldera are definitely a must in Santorini weddings.
