Festive Glamour: Hollywood Meets Modern Luxe Wedding Inspiration

Hollywood Meets Modern Luxe Wedding Inspiration

The concept, theme and inspiration for the shoot was “Festive Glamour”. A mash-up of old-school Hollywood elegance and modern luxe glamour that echoed the wedding venue, Pelham house perfectly. Located in Lewes, East Sussex the historic Georgian Manor House has undergone a full renovation, mixing modern luxe decor all whilst maintaining the buildings traditional features and history.

With current Covid restrictions limiting weddings to 15 people we wanted to showcase how special a smaller wedding can be with a small group of people and focus on creating an atmospheric & intimate ceremony and reception.

Inspiration & Styling

Wedding Planner & Stylist Kayleigh Bicknell from KB Dream Events used a colour palette of white and green with touches of silver & gold throughout, with lots of candles and hurricane vases, flowers and foliage to create focal points around the venue and delicate strung glass beading on the back of the ceremony chairs to capture the light.

The floral arrangements were created by Florist, Stephanie Willoughby, a Chelsea flower show Gold Medal Winner. The bouquet, fireplace & mantle arrangements featured white Guernsey lilies, dahlias & roses with touches of white heather for good luck. Foliages included bleached ruscus and grevillea with lots of English ivy, birch stems and snowberry to tie in with the Christmas vibe.

Tables were laid with crisp white table linen, silver chargers, gold cutlery and glass candle holders of varying heights with intertwined ivy to create interest and provide a simple but elegant tablescape.

The 2 tier wedding cake by luxury cake artist, Holly Fairall, featured a lustre finish, hand-painted brush leaf icing, handmade sugar roses, eucalyptus and leaves flecked with edible gold leaf all washed down with Tattinger Champagne, of course!

And finally to make the day even more special and to add to the magic of our winter wedding, we even managed to arrange for some snow – courtesy of a snow machine from Showtec!

Fashion & Beauty

1940s with a modern twist was the inspiration behind the outfit, hair and makeup. Sleek Hollywood waves by Hairstylist, Megan Robertson, and subtle contouring and a festive red lip perfect for a winter wedding by Makeup Artist, Belle Denbury.

The dress is a beautiful Maggie Sottero ‘Aberdeen’ crepe gown from Victoria’s Bridal Boutique featured exquisite detailing on bishop sleeves, a cathedral train and a deep plunge. The slits at either side of the dress added a bit of drama and showed off the beautiful Italian silk shoes with an organza bow from London Designer, Harriet Wilde. Completing the outfit, we paired the dress with a faux marabou feather bolero to fight off the winter chill! Not forgetting the groom’s contemporary tux was from local wedding hire specialist The O Zone for a classic feel.

The handcrafted velvet hairband from Designer, Saint Beth Official, featured ornate gold leaves, rhinestone pearl flowers and embellishments. An elegant and enchanting piece that gave a regal edge to the outfit.

The platinum and diamond engagement ring (featuring a 0.5-carat gem) and wedding bands were designed by Aurum Jewellers.

The Ceremony

To keep with the Christmas theme, we incorporated a Wine Ceremony to our Celebrant-led wedding ceremony, but with a festive twist.

The Wine Ceremony is also referred to as the ‘Loving Cup’ or ‘The Cup of Life’. We started with a large central wine glass and two carafes of wine either side; one white and one red, representing the different aspects of our couple’s lives. Kate poured the white wine into the central glass and Ben poured the red wine, so the central glass of wine now symbolised the sum of their two lives.

To spice things up a bit, Ben added a cinnamon stick and to symbolise their zest for life, some orange juice and orange segments. Kate then added some sugar syrup and some strawberries to symbolise the sweet side of their life together.

Lastly, to symbolise the energy and fun side of their relationship they added some champagne and I reminded them that it’s never a good idea to stir a drink with fizz in it, so they shouldn’t do anything to stir things up in their marriage, they should care for it and the bubbles and energy will remain.

Kate and Ben then shared their Cup of Life to acknowledge that, as with the ingredients, they will never go back to the individuals they were before they pledged to join their lives together. They took it in turns to toast each other by drinking from the cup three times; to their past, their present and their future lives together.

The Wine Ceremony can also be carried out on a larger scale, where the couple pour larger quantities of the ingredients into a jug and then pour into one central glass. The remaining cocktail can then be sampled by their guests after the ceremony.

What a wonderfully festive wedding shoot. Absolutely loving this!
