How do you come to peace and create something completely new, when so much is happening around you right now? 2020 was a roller coaster ride. For everyone and also for me personally. The pandemic, political unrest, uncertainty, shock and desperate actionism, goodbyes, letting go, acceptance…

The collection is more than ever about growing up and standing by yourself. When we learn to love the pain that comes with challenges as much as the joy, we wake up. We see the blank, white page in front of us and realize we have the free choice of how to do it. We can do whatever the f** we want.

The most pain I suffered this year was from losing my grandpa. He was my idol since I was little. I spent so much time with him and my grandma in their little atelier, watching or creating something for myself. He was an old- school pattern maker and tailor, mostly men’s suits. That‘s why it was a matter of the heart for me to incorporate elements from tailoring into the collection. It was also a turning point, realizing, I need to live for myself and do what I want. Everybody should.”

Ritual Unions pieces are for women who are up for telling the next chapter in their lives with pure self-love. Women who celebrate being different. Women who are up for something different, something new and don‘t care what others think. Women who stand up and move forward.

Every dress is handmade in Berlin, following a concept to be as sustainable as possible. We stand for slow fashion and only produce upon order.

The new collection is available at the Ritual Unions Atelier in Berlin, Germany and can now be ordered worldwide by bridal boutiques.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

SUSTAINABILITY

All clothes are handmade in our studio in Berlin. It is produced only upon order. We use high-quality materials like lace and silk from Europe. We recycle packaging material and fabric scraps. Most styles can be worn again after the wedding or combined differently.

DIVERSITY

We want to provide a wide range of styles from romantic to badass. Well, the gap that still exists in the bridal world by presenting what you can‘t nd anywhere else. We take individuality seriously and offer customizations.

QUALITY

Karin works with couture processing techniques that she learned in Paris and New York. The dresses are incredibly light and comfortable to wear. The renowned cut constructions and the amount of loving handwork are the hallmarks of Ritual Unions.

THE DESIGNER

Karin Brettmeister is the creative mind behind Ritual Unions. She founded the brand in 2017 after designing collections for Marchesa and J. Mendel in New York.

Karin graduated top of her class in fashion design
at Esmod International Fashion School in Munich in 2012. She has received numerous awards including the Hempel Award in Beijing, the Triumph Inspiration Award and most recently the Bridal!NEXT Award in London.

Her grandparents were custom tailors and from an early age, she wanted to be a fashion designer. She found her passion in couture. She creates extraordinary gowns with great attention to detail and every single dress goes through her hand.
