Wedding Inspiration: Misty Mountain Elopement at Glencoe
With elopements becoming increasingly more popular (especially over the last year) I am finding that more couples and more suppliers are falling in love with this magical way to get married. Not only did I want to showcase what an elopement looks like in the incredible Glencoe but also showcase the amazing extras couples can have on their day too. Want to be surrounded by mountains but also enjoy delicious food and a beautifully styled picnic? Absolutely!
Your elopement day is ALL about you both, an amazing experience and all your favourite things. Having styled shoots and photography workshop days means having that space to get creative and show new ideas and styles for couples to get inspiration for their wedding day.

When shooting a styled shoot part of my focus is to capture the beautiful details created by all the wonderful suppliers involved. These styled sessions not only give great inspiration to couples planning their wedding but also the time for photographers to get inspired with the freedom to create at leisure and practice new techniques for future couples wedding days. This shoot was styled as an elopement and I enjoyed capturing the intimate elements of the day such as the couple getting ready together in the bell tent, a heartfelt vow exchange, tying the knot during the ceremony, and my favourite part stunning grazing table created for two.
Real-life weddings can be pretty fast-paced and sometimes photographers won’t have much opportunity to “play” with new ideas with their couples. So I utilize styled shoots to really look at my surroundings and how I can incorporate my couples with the landscape around us to tell their story.
The most important thing to me, even at a styled shoot, is to capture the connection between a couple by creating natural and heartfelt moments. This is in keeping with my brand ethos and the style I like to shoot. Memories you can really feel. This is what my aim is with all I do. I want people to not only love their photographs but to really remember how they felt at the time they were taken.
Rebecca and Grant our wonderful models are indeed are a real couple, which makes photographing them so much easier. My focus at this styled session was to capture the breathtaking landscape whilst also maintaining my aim of capturing the love between Rebecca and Grant. I guided them through different movements which I knew would create a dramatic impact. Dancing, to catch the wind in Rebecca’s dress, which also created lots of authentic laughter.
Dancing is something I ask almost all of my couples to do during their portrait session on a wedding day, even more so now than ever. First dances were not allowed for some time due to covid restrictions and as such, I have loved giving my couples that special moment alone to embrace one another during a mock-up first dance. It can sometimes be a little tricky to guide a couple through a first dance movement that photographs well, so having the time to practice this was key to me.
