Wedding Ideas: A Wild & Free Beach Elopement
When I was planning this beach elopement shoot, I set it up specifically with my own couples in mind who originally were wanting to get married abroad but were having to change their plans to get married in the UK. I wanted to create an inspirational shoot that showed you can mix destination vibes with a wedding/elopement in this country by choosing the right colour palette and textures to create an ‘abroad aesthetic’.
Unfortunately, we weren’t lucky with the weather and had gale force winds and torrential rain to end the shoot which was pretty ironic considering the point we were trying to get across but hopefully, it gets across that no matter what happens, the weather, the government restrictions that a wedding is such a beautiful and special thing and defying all odds and getting married anyway is such a magical thing!
Our shoot went from trying to incorporate a Morrocan wedding feel into the shoot to instead feeling much more like a moody Icelandic vibe at times instead!

Vision
Morrocan oranges, mustard yellows, dried flowers. A couple madly in love, with an urge to do something a little crazy…
Location
This shoot was inspired by destination weddings, with a different angle. We wanted to show how you could make a destination of the British seaside with this shoot set up on Eastbourne beach. Whilst we didn’t have the beaming sun, we did have the sea air and the stormy atmosphere made everything feel more intense. Nestled a short walk from Birling Gap, we found a stunning backdrop of the chalk cliffs and pebbled sand. Our real couple Kate and Ben weren’t shy of the chilly sea and waded straight in for some fun shots.
Inspiration and Styling
We wanted to inspire other couples to take advantage of the beautiful coast we have in the UK and to go the extra mile when eloping. With a paired down wedding, you can really go all out on the details such as personalised ‘we eloped’ stationary, incredible grazing platters and a snuggle tipi. We wanted to show how easily you can make your day feel special and grand whilst still intimate. Who says you can’t eat a whole wedding cake between the two of you? Not us!
Fashion and Beauty
Kate was wearing a stunning sheer gown from Lisa Lyons Bridal and Ben a perfectly matched three-piece suit from House of Cavani. The inspiration behind the hair and makeup look was something soft and elegant that you could do at home, but makes you feel special.
