At age 18, I’ve recently been excited by collaborating modelling and the bridal industry and the possibilities it would open up for me regarding the incredible photo opportunities. After taking part in a few bridal photoshoots, I decided to organise this editorial bridal shoot myself with the intention of bringing together local businesses to create an exciting and alternative bridal look that could inspire others to push the boat out on their wedding day.

My original vision was the idea of an unconventional bride wearing a leather jacket paired with over-the-top accessories and wildflowers. With the help of my amazing photographer Jennifer, we were able to gather an incredible team and get shooting, all in under a month!
On the day of our photoshoot, we began with a classic fairytale wedding dress on the beautiful grounds of the Brighton Pavilion, and as the shoot progressed, we took the look to an extreme, adding accessories and changing dresses in order to showcase how brides can insert more personality and individuality into their wedding day.
The pink dress was our in-between alternative dress that offered a less fairytale look, but still gave us more of a girly modern edge paired with the amazing headdress. I was also interested by the thought of a ‘dark bride’, altering the expectations of the classic white or ivory dress and high heels and exchanging them for a navy velour dress, a leather jacket and black studded Chelsea boots to create an edgy and more self-expressive bridal look that would wow your guests in a different way!
Shooting in the street added a further unconventional edge in the way that my vision translates through the photos as a self-sufficient, no fuss, high fashion bridal look in a casual city environment. Although we did have a hair and makeup artist, covid got in our way and scuppered that plan. However, we overcame this issue through the use of some YouTube tutorials and self-creativity. I’d always wanted it to look like this wedding shoot had a lot of my own input, and I think that comes across through the fact that I ended up doing my own hair and makeup and styled the aesthetic myself. I did this with the hope of showing brides that they can get properly involved with their day behind the scenes, as well as being the centre of attention on the day!
