Unique Ideas for the Perfect Proposal

Proposing to your significant other is one of the most important and exciting times of your life. There are so many ways to propose, from the classic ‘down on one knee’ in a fancy restaurant to popping the question high in the sky.

However, doing something slightly different makes for a great memory and a captivating story for the wedding, so why not be creative with your proposal? Here are some of our favourite ideas for a unique proposal that they’ll never forget.

Take them somewhere special

Organising a holiday with the intent to propose is a great way of taking your partner’s breath away in a location they’ve always wanted to visit. Whether it’s exotic beaches and palm trees or hiking to the top of a snowy mountain, try to find out what their favourite place is without making it seem too obvious.

Once the time is right, take your partner by surprise and propose to them properly with the engagement ring of their dreams. You may decide to ask passersby to take a photo or video to commemorate the occasion.

If you’re staying in a hotel, speak to the staff or owners to see if there are any final touches they can provide. Whilst you’re out spending time with your partner, the staff can be preparing a romantic setting for when you return to make the experience extra special.

Sneak it into a question in a game

Plan a games night either just the two of you or with your closest friends or family. When it’s your partner’s turn to answer one of the questions, avoid what’s written on the card and ask the one that’s been on your mind: “Will you marry me?”

It’ll be sure to take them by surprise, especially if you use a card from the game. Keep hold of the card as well so you have the memory with you always. There are so many different ways to use board games to carry out the proposal; maybe there’s a specific one you both love to play together.

Fill a room with happy memories

Print out all of the photos of you and your spouse-to-be where you were at your happiest and hang them all around the room. You could do this at your home but doing it on a getaway would make the whole thing more memorable.

Your partner will enter the room shocked at all the photographs but surrounded by the greatest memories as you ask the important question. The photos can be kept and placed in frames as well or used during the wedding.

Get man’s best friend involved

Depending on how well you trust your pet, use them to help you pop the question. You could easily tie the ring around the leash of your furry companion or give them a fake cuddly today in the shape of an engagement ring to carry around with them until your partner takes the hint.

You could even surprise them by adopting a new puppy or kitten – who could say no to that?
