Ukrainian Floral Crown Wedding Inspiration: A Nod to Vinok
Love will always win, and we’re giving a visionary homage to the traditional headpiece worn by the Ukrainian people as well as some good old summer vibes! We hope you enjoy this Ukrainian wedding inspiration!
Location
The Maynard was our frame for the shoot. Just recently decorated, it provided a classically styled ballroom with a blank canvas that would complement the bold yellow and mustard tone we were working with. They have a fantastic bar and restaurant area, that is just a little city chic and wanted to base the intimate part of the shoot there. It provided us with a funky background before moving outside which is surrounded by rolling hills and countryside with it being based in the Peak District.
Inspiration & Styling
Floral headbands and circlets are still a high desire for brides and grooms and we made something that was quite regal but that was detailed and striking. We are in awe of the Vinok, the headdress worn traditionally by Ukrainian brides and in our own way wanted to give a little nod to their tradition. Our design is by no means any comparison to the grandeur created by the Ukrainians, but we think WTW readers will love this style we have showcased. Paired with earrings from Victoria Louise Accessories, you have a wow factor suited for any season!
Fashion & Beauty
A 2-piece wedding set -Tessa Top and Billie Skirt designed by British designer Ella Kate supplied by Nora Eve Bridal, gave us the edgy look we wanted to achieve. Ella Kate Bridal are strong believers of sustainability, like ourselves, so it was a no brainer to have their beautiful garments included in the shoot. Two cakes were crafted for the shoot. The first is a piece of art featured within the shelving unit, the second is made with sugar paste florals centred on the grazing table with a cheesecake stack. Iced shortbread favours acted a double as for edible name places.
Did you know that the Ukrainian floral headdress is called a Vinok? They were worn by young, unmarried women to signify that they were “pure” and ready for marriage. This style of floral crown was the backbone of our wedding shoot. Victoria Louise, one of your recommended suppliers provided us with an eye-catching pair of stunning earrings and necklace. A real-life celebration hosted by the celebrant, Helen Jubb, is not restricted to any culture, faith or religion. Flowers included dried Palm leaves, Honesty, Scabiosa Pods, Statice and Craspedia with fresh Ranunculus, Gerbera and Chrysanthemum blooms.
How incredible is this wedding inspiration? Are you obsessed with floral crowns? We are too – and it’s so lovely to see a traditional Ukrainian crown used as inspiration.
