Pastel Spring Wedding
Mackenzie and Brian met on Hinge while living in New York. In September 2021, after countless dates and memories together, the two decided to get an apartment together in Tudor City. The weekend of the move, Brian took Mackenzie to a nearby bridge overlooking the New York skyline and surprised her with a huge bouquet of red roses as he asked her to marry him. She gratefully accepted, and the two went with his parents to The Plaza for an afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, desserts, and, of course, champagne.
For their Hudson Valley wedding, Mackenzie and Brian were inspired by the freshness of spring and seasonal florals. They chose a bed and breakfast with views of the river and Bear Mountain State Park as their ceremony backdrop. Mackenzie wore a custom white dress by celebrity Vietnamese designer Thai Nguyen, created from a variety of laces that he pieced together for a cascading floral look.
For their reception, Mackenzie changed into a golden ao dai — also custom-designed by Thai Nguyen — and khan dong headpiece. The newlyweds joined their guests in the tented reception space, which featured greenery chandeliers, prismatic flower and candle holders, and personalized chopstick favours at each place setting. Brian’s 17-year-old dog Muffin also made an appearance throughout the reception décor: on the cocktail napkins, the signature cocktail sign, and as a lifelike cake topper for the groom’s cake. The couple hired a live painter to capture their first dance — a memory that will hang in their home for years to come.
