I’m loving the inspiration behind today’s real wedding. The bride and groom had a subtle ‘time theme’ to guide them in the styling of their day. Emily spent a year scouring thrift shops for vintage and antique clocks to decorate her’s and Adam’s gorgeous barn wedding! I think you’ll agree when you see the results, it really adds to the rustic charm of their big day.

I grew up at Deep Creek, and it is where most of my family still lives. Ridgeview Valley is gorgeous, and the barn fit perfectly for my style.

My dress is from JLM {Blush} I love the back and the shape. I felt beautiful in it. It really flattered my shape, even being 16 weeks pregnant. This was important since I bought the dress before I was pregnant and when I was about 10 pounds lighter! Also, it is made of cotton lace, so it was easy to travel with since I flew in from Texas. No wrinkles!

Adam is in the Marine Corps, and he wore his Dress Blues. He looked so handsome. I hope that we look timeless when we look back on our pictures fifty years from now.

Adam and I met in the service. After dating for about four months, we both had to move. Adam went to Hawaii and I went to Texas. We visited as much as we could, but stayed close with phone calls and skype. Adam proposed on the beach in Hawaii about eleven months after we started dating.

We legally married a month later before he left for a deployment to Afghanistan. We planned our ceremony for about a year and a half after getting married. A few weeks before the wedding, we found out we were pregnant with our baby girl, Willow Jane.

We now all live happily together in Washington with our silly goldendoodle puppy, Pokey. I am crazy, head over heels in love with Adam, and I couldn’t be happier than I am with my little family.

We held the ceremony up on a ridge that overlooked the valley in which we held the reception. The view was breathtaking. To get people from the parking area up to the ceremony area, we had a tractor ride. It was really cute, but it was time consuming and hot. If I redid everything, I might rethink that idea!

My Daddy walked me down the aisle to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri (going with the time theme).

Tahni from Joyeuse Photography was amazing throughout the whole process, from when I booked her over a year prior, to when we received our pictures less than two weeks after the wedding.

She has a way of making you feel so comfortable, and I knew I could trust her completely to capture one of the most important days of my life.

She is a true artist. I highly recommend her. Hiring her was the best decision I made.

I only had my maid of honor, so I let her choose whatever she wanted to wear. She chose a really cute beige dress with a ruffled bottom.

All of the decorations were either thrifted or handmade. I had a subtle “time” theme going, highlighted with the antique accents. I collected about fifty vintage clocks and scattered them throughout the barn.

The wedding was definitely shaped by the barn where we had the reception. I tried to go for a rustic chic theme. Adding the vintage and home made accents really kept everything relaxed. There wasn’t a particular color pallet, I was just guided by natural spring colors.

I saved a lot of money by buying wholesale flowers from the florist. I wanted a wildflower look, so I went with white and yellow daisies, yellow roses, english ivy, allysum, and astromerias. A few of my girlfriends came over the day before and we put together all of the arrangements, then kept them in a walk in refrigerator overnight. We did twenty tables for less than 300 dollars, and they looked perfect.

We lined the walls with the beautiful hand stitched quilts all made by my grandmother. She makes a quilt for every person in the family, so I borrowed them all to put them on display in tribute to her talent

My grandmother made hundreds of home made jellies in all flavors. My mother topped them with pretty fabric, and I made all of the labels with a custom stamp on gold paper from Staples. They were a big hit!

The brick table numbers were made by my mother with coordinating fabric from the jam jars. I, along with help from family, collected hundreds of vintage plates to use at the place settings. Guests found their seats in an old library card catalog. We had guests sign quilt squares for a card catalog that I’m having made into a quilt. There are tons of other small details that I am so glad Tahni captured in pictures, because I’m starting to forget all of them.

My cake was cute and simple. My sister in law made it for me. My favorite cake flavor is funfetti, so she made that with my Grandmother’s sweet icing recipe.

We also had about 15 different home made pies and cheesecake along with it. The cake stands were all thrifted. The cake table was arranged by my mother in law on my mother’s vintage buffet. It ended up being my favorite décor of the reception.

If I could impart any words of wisdom to other brides? Start early and research. I was able to do the entire wedding for less than six thousand dollars because I made smart choices. I splurged where it mattered, did what I could myself, and knew where I could sacrifice. I made the wedding totally my own, and it turned out exactly how I wanted it.

Such a pretty wedding with so many homemade touches and details. I am absolutely crazy mad for all the vintage clocks and rustic styling! And what a super sweet and gorgeous couple Emily and Adam are too.
