Fun & Colourful Vintage Carnival Wedding Ideas

Words and Images by Lorraine Claire Photography.

Our theme for today’s wedding inspiration was Vintage Carnival. When I was engaged, I created mood boards full of various themes for my wedding day, the concept came from one of those mood boards.

As I’ve met so many wonderful wedding suppliers through my photography business, I thought it would be wonderful to do a collaborative shoot to help inspire you lovely brides-to-be.

Lisa, a wedding planner and stylist from Carmela Weddings, specialises in planning quirky and retro weddings and so I thought she’d be perfect to help style the shoot.

I contacted the fabulous hair and make-up artist Sophia Wyatt as I knew she is full of creativity and flare, and would know exactly what look to create for our models.

Together the three of got in touch with other wonderful suppliers, that all shared the same enthusiasm and passion for helping our vintage carnival wedding vision come to life.

The shoot took place at the gorgeous Gate Street Barn, near Guildford, Surrey. We wanted to portray a fun carnival feel with a British tea party twist.

So to do this we used lots of colour, with big bold accessories and bright flowers.

Our models were styled with a late 50s early 60s edge, having hair in various takes of the beehive, paired with statement headpieces.

They also wore beautiful vintage bridal gowns, with lace and tulle.

To give the shoot an enjoyable festival vibe, we included all the fun of the fair, bringing along various treats, including a yummy candy cart, a carnival themed cake as well as games and props.

I wanted to create, bright, yet softly lit, beautifully toned imagery, producing a timeless look.

The aim was to show brides you can have a wedding full of personality, fun and colour which is also stylish and elegant.

  1. That colour pop is absolutely stunning, but I have to say that my favourite is her make-up. It’s not over the top, but it’s just enough to go with the rest of the theme. Love this!

  2. Wish you did post behind the scenes.. where I filmed this. Just click on my name to see it.
    Regards
