One of my favourite parts of running Want That Wedding is introducing you to talented wedding professionals, and they don’t come any more talented than this inspiring bunch of musicians who created the 9 piece covers band Blue Attic.
This fun bunch met and formed at uni and decided to keep the band going after graduating. With a repertoire of classic soul, funk and pop songs from the likes of Aretha Franklin, Earth Wind & Fire, The Jackson 5, Chaka Khan and Stevie Wonder, through to modern classics from the likes of Bruno Mars, Jessie J, Amy Winehouse (and so much more). This is one band that likes to seriously ‘get on down’.

Collectively the band are all incredibly experienced and accomplished musicians – we’re all music graduates who have trained at some of the UK’s most prestigious music conservatoires, colleges and universities.
As individual musicians, we have performed at venues such as The O2, The Barbican and The Royal Festival Hall; at festivals such as Glastonbury, The Big Chill and Wilderness, and have been heard on BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music and BBC London amongst other radio stations.
The full Blue Attic experience is with the 9 piece band, encompassing a 3 piece brass section and percussionist, just as you see in our live video. For something a little more modest, both in terms of sound and cost, we can offer smaller set ups in a number of instrument combinations – just get in touch to discuss your preferences and ideas for the event and we will work with you to plan the perfect set-up to meet your vision as well as your budget.
Prior to ‘main event’ Blue Attic sets, we can also offer entertainment prior to the main band, in the form of a:
- String Trio or Quartet
- Jazz Trio or Quartet
- Solo Saxophone
Above all else, what we’re best at is bringing people together to have a great time. In fact, our keyboard player and bass player met at one of our wedding shows and they now live together, proving that love can happen on both sides of the dancefloor at a wedding! And we’re not adverse to a bit of crowd participation, once even inviting an Elvis impersonator to join us on stage – unfortunately it was then quite hard to get ‘The King’ to leave the building…
As you can gather, despite being consummate professionals, we like to have fun. There’s nothing worse for an audience than seeing a bunch of stiff, lifeless musicians on stage. We love what we do, and we’ve found that love and sense of fun to be contagious when it comes to the crowd at our shows.
