They say that a picture is worth 1,000 words. Well I think that these darling wedding photos are worth at least 10,000! Set in the rolling English countryside in a quaint farmhouse, Kirsty and Paul’s wedding has an eclectic, laid back vibe that is all their own.
The bride gives a classic look major personality with her brightly-hued mustard yellow cardigan while the groom rocks a dapper azure-colored suite. The gorgeous photo above fits the couple’s eclectic vintage vision to a tee!
Kirsty and Paul’s wedding really caught my eye because it shows that a wedding can be both fun and beautiful. This is exactly the type of stylish and unique wedding that I would love to attend!
From the subtle Japanese influences in the handcrafted origami pieces to the carnivalesque, rustic feel of the reception space, this wedding is loaded with personalized details.
A little bit bohemian, a little bit country, but totally gorgeous!!

My wedding dress was an original 1950s dress which was customised with a few details like the sash and buttons. I really wanted a dress I could dance in and that would not get muddy on the farm in the event of a downpour!
Most importantly I wanted a dress that was unique. Fur coat and no knickers were great at making all the little changes.
Our florist was Academy florists, Otley – the owner is fantastic and really knows her thing about flowers! She did our bouquets and also provided all the flowers for our jam jars which family and friends arranged.
My tiara was the one Paul’s mother wore on her own wedding day!
Paul and I were married in Masham, North Norkshire. Masham is a small rural village that is known for its beautiful green pastures, its family-run breweries, and an annual sheep fair, of course! Our wedding reception was held at Hilltop Farm in Masham.
When it came to the styling our our wedding day we had a few Japanese influences such as our origami cranes. We made 1000 of them to fit with the Japanese legend that is, if you fold 1000 you will be granted a wish.
We had a song from the Notebook to walk down the aisle to, and Adam Sandlers “I want to grow old with you” from the Wedding Singer played as we signed the registers.
Paul hand painted the brides and grooms for our fussball table and made 11 ‘veils’ for team bride!
Our wedding photographers James and Lianne were fun and easy going, they provided lots of natural rather than posed shots which is what exactly we wanted.
In the run up to our wedidng we visited lots of carboot sales for mirrors, cake stands and decanters for the bar. All of our wedding signs were hand painted by Paul.
Our families collected jamjars for nearly a year while we were travelling around South America. They managed to get over 400 between them. The advantage of a large Irish family!
For wedding favours we had succulents found on ebay and potted all 120 individually! We also had lots of ‘goodies’ from welcome bags in hotel rooms to personalised water bottles and snacks for the bus journey.
Laura is a super star when it comes to cakes. She made the wedding cake for my brothers wedding and Paul was talking about how good it was for over a year so this was the easiest decision we had.
We wanted something that was rustic to fit the venue but also yummy. Laura came to the farm and spent time setting out the cake table and making it perfect.
Our first dance was to ‘Good Life’ by One Republic. We spent the last 4 years living in Japan and then a year travelling before our wedding so the words about our friends and family not knowing where we have been is very appropriate.
What was your most memorable moment of the day / evening?
Our time on the dancefloor. The soundtrack was put together by Keith (my brother) and it kept the dance floor full all night.
If you could impart any words of wisdom to a Bride to Be planning her marriage and wedding day, what would they be?
Get plenty of rest before the week of your wedding and plan some time by yourself. All our family and friends helped in so many ways, even unlikely characters got involved in the planning, it was amazing to see my dad a traditional Yorkshire man getting creative with burlap and candles!
