Festival Themed Shabby Chic Wedding with Hay Bales: Kate & Ben

No event planner required, my husband is great with crunching numbers, and working out the budget while I took care of the finer details and the overall task of bringing the vision of our day to life (I couldn’t have done this without Alice from Fleur De Lace)

Ben also constructed a wedding folder that had absolutely every detail of our day in, it would have impressed any qualified wedding planner :)

I loved my wedding dress as soon as I saw it! I always wanted a fitted wedding dress with lace sleeves and this dress ticked all boxes.

I wore it with a pair of floral Kurt Geiger heels and a flower crown.

Ben wore his Military number 1s, and in the evening he wore pale pink chinos and a brushed cotton shirt.

The style of our day was a shabby chic festival theme, we both wanted a more relaxed wedding day and for everyone to enjoy the day.

My Father David walked me down the aisle to ‘I Giorni’ (Ludovico Einaudi) beautifully played and learned for the day by The Black Velvets.

Our wedding decor consisted of hay bales with tartan blankets, a bathtub filled with beers and ciders, a gin bar with flavoured gins I’d made throughout the year, garden games including the sack race and giant jenga. Pastel lanterns, fairy lights, bunting, wooden signage, giant festival flags and a glitter bar.

Our wedding photographers were the perfect duo. Adam goes with the groom and Liz with the bride. They seamlessly fitted into our day, and gave kind words of advice throughout and took stunning staged and natural photos of the whole day.

Fleur De Lace decorated the venue with lanterns, fairy lights and did all the floral arrangements including my bridal bouquet and all the floral crowns.

We had a naked wedding cake with Victoria sponge, Red velvet and Lemon drizzle.

I wanted a cake that had a tier of everyone’s favourite flavour, I love the design of naked wedding cakes as a feel it fitted out festival theme perfectly, it has a less polished finish and looks more shabby chic.

If we could offer any advice we would say… Work out a budget, prioritise what you want and keep a spreadsheet of all outgoings so you can always re-evaluate your spendings.
