Classic & Timeless Melbourne Wedding With EPIC Flower Wall: Luke & Madeline

Absolutely stunning Melbourne bride, Madeline is gracing the Want That Wedding blog today. Madeline married her childhood sweetheart Luke in a flawlessly beautiful and custom made gown with figure hugging bodice and dreamy tiered pleats!

Their timeless and classic wedding took place at Luminare Sky Deck in Melbourne, Australia. The venue was styled with beautiful pastel blooms, modern style ghost chairs, chic lighting and an EPIC floral wall!

I knew that I wanted to have some input when designing my gown. I had a really clear picture of what I wanted so I didn’t want to buy a gown off the rack. Luckily, I found Jane Hill and it seemed like we were absolutely perfect for each other!

She loved my ideas for the dress and I also completely agreed with all of her input. It was my idea for the extravagant and billowing pleating at the bottom but Jane recommended that we make the bottom pleats completely detachable and this was the most perfect idea because I was actually able to move and dance at the reception!

We went with Kate Hill Flowers. Her work is just so magical! The flower wall that she created for us was absolutely stunning. She made the process so easy as well.

The flowers that were included in our arrangement were mostly white roses, English dusty pink Peonies, Native Flora to Australia, white tulips, lots of greenery and lots of hydrangeas.

The lighter colours blended in beautifully with our decor and gave that traditional and classic feeling.

My Father walked me down the aisle – I actually walked down to Higher Love, the cover by James Vincent McMorrow. It’s a favourite song of mine and Lukes.

Luke and I are actually Highschool sweethearts! We met in class when we were both 15 and I always remember how much he made me laugh!

We absolutely love travelling and being in the outdoors, and we were in Bali when the proposal happened. I remember he took me down to the beach for a sunset stroll and I didn’t really think much of it. It was a gorgeous evening as well.

The tide was out and the sun was almost setting behind the water and that’s when he surprised me by getting down on one knee and taking something out of his pocket. I was completely caught off guard!

Our wedding photographers were Blumenthal Photography.

Honestly, the thing that inspired us most for the wedding – was just to have something timeless and classic! We wanted a wedding that when we looked back on photos on years time, we wouldn’t cringe at how outdated it is. This is why we went with light neutral colours and classic decor.

We mostly relied on the floral arrangements and the lighting for the decor. Hanging globes for lighting, candles, lots of greenery and modern clear seating.

Our cake was made by Leya’s of Cake and was a three tier white chocolate sponge with berry ganache and chantilly cream filling. Both Luke and I just love white chocolate and we wanted flavours that were quite subtle which every guest would enjoy.

What was your most memorable moment of the day / evening?

Apart from getting married, my favourite moment would have been just the dancing and celebration at the end! It was so lovely having all of our loved ones together all celebrating the same cause under the same roof.

If you could impart any words of wisdom to future brides planning their wedding day, what would they be?

The best advice I could give to brides and grooms would be to take some time out for yourself right before the big day.

It can get so stressful with all of the planning and finalising the smaller details so it’s important to remember why you’re doing it – to share a lifetime with the one you love! Go for a dinner and have a nice stroll with your partner and don’t mention the wedding, this will help to ground you both and de-stress you.

Our first dance track was I Forget Where We Are by Ben Howard. Ever since Luke and I met we just loved Ben Howards music so much and the song is so beautiful, we thought it would be perfect for our first dance!

Such a beautiful city wedding and oh, that gown!!! Beautiful.
