It all started with a great interest in hats and hair jewellery, but also when I met the brides before weddings. I noticed that there was a large gap in the market for beautiful hair decorations, most of it was a little too flashy or boring.
Then I started designing myself for my customers, This became popular and spread to the other hairdressers’ clients, since then, it has just continued, and so I launched Parant with a website and everything. Blogs and fashion magazine discovered my craft, so now I get orders from around the world.
I have not participated in any milliner education and i’m entirely self-taught. The feeling for shapes and design comes from my years as a hairdresser and my wonderful grandmother who always took the time to sit with me as a child, and we played with yarn, lace and textiles.
I am inspired by everything that is beautiful. Old furniture, flowers, fabrics and, above all crocheted tablecloths and lace, this wonderful craft that is usually located deep down in a drawer or cabinet, a big treasure!
I work mostly with crochet lace and tablecloths that I strengthen and shape. Usually I work with materials I find at second hand and flea markets… you can find all kind of things, tablecloths, silk ribbon and pearls. I like the idea of recycling and these beautiful things can come out of their lockers and get beautiful jewelry to adorn a head.
