Red, Pink + White: Valentine | Wedding Inspiration
4 years ago today, at this very time, I was getting ready to go on a date. I had been ‘chatting‘ to a guy via the internet dating site Guardian Soulmates, and tonight was the night I was going to meet him. I printed off his profile and showed it to one of my ‘interested in my dating escapades’ colleagues to exclamations of *inflects a camp tone* Oooo he’s a bit of alright isn’t he!
We were to meet outside Miss Selfridge on Oxford Circus at 7.30 (we both worked nearby). As I walked down the street, nervously tugging the hem of my dress, I wondered how this date would go. He seemed so nice over email, down to earth, intelligent, witty. I was getting closer … my heart began to thump. As I turned the corner, there he was, casually leaning against the shop front. A cute guy. In a leather jacket. He’d spotted me. He had a huge smile and piercing blue eyes. My first thought? Oh god, what if he doesn’t like me?
We greeted each other (as you do in these bizarre situations) nervously and strangely upbeat! And off we set. He’d noted my love of cocktails from my dating profile and so that was the destination. A trendy cocktail bar. We looked for a table (he hadn’t booked!!) and there, right in the corner was a table reserved under the name of Chris for 8pm. We looked around before deciding to take the table and move when the occupants arrived. Tentatively we began to chat. The cocktails flowed… (Chris drank larger – he’d want you to know that), as did the conversation. The Chris who’d reserved the table was a no show. We spoke of marriage! And children… did I want to? He looked a tiny bit excited when I said yes and yes. Something clicked that night. Something just. felt. right. We married a few years later and to this day I’m still incredibly happy and proud to call him my husband… my soul mate.
Now after all that soppy-ness… I have a beautiful Red, Pink + White Styled Shoot, perfectly themed for love, lovers and valentines…
