AND THE WINNER IS —//–> Claire Sutherland. Number 7. An email will be winging it’s way to you asap!
Hello my loves, I have an absolutely fabulous prize competition for you to win today and it’s an easy peasy one to enter too!
So first of all, what exactly is on offer? Your chance to win a super pretty and romantic luxury wedding garter. Yay! Bridal accessory brand Britten recently launched a sister company specialising solely in very gorgeous and indulgently luxurious wedding garters, aptly named The Wedding Garter Company.
Would you like to know a bit more about garters and why it’s a bridal tradition to wear one?
I found this info via Wikipedia…
There is a Western wedding tradition for a bride to wear a garter to her wedding, to be removed towards the end of the reception by the groom. This ceremony is often interpreted as symbolic of deflowering, though some sources attribute its origin to a superstition that taking an article of the bride’s clothing will bring good luck. In the Middle Ages, the groom’s men would rush at the new bride to take her garters as a prize.
Today, the privilege of removing the bride’s garter is traditionally reserved to the groom, who will then toss the garter to the unmarried male guests.
Ooo-eer interesting! Anyway enough explaining. Let’s do a little swooning and then I can tell you how you can win one of these beauties.
The Wedding Garter Co hand crafts luxury wedding garters. Vintage lace and silk bridal garters in blue, ivory and grey. The perfect gift for a bride or your ‘something blue’.
The collection is comprised of ten bespoke pieces available in a range of intricate designs and colour-ways. Made from the softest silks and delicate lace, the garters are adorned with fine crystals, pearls and Swarovski opals. From statement pieces to sleek designs and created with form fitting dresses in mind, there is a garter suitable for each and every bridal look.
Drawing upon Britten’s signature detailing and extraordinary craftsmanship, each piece from the collection is hand-sewn, every pattern hand drawn and every piece of lace hand cut, creating beautiful bridal heirlooms to be treasured for years to come.
Every garter is made to order from The Wedding Garter Co’s ancient workshop in Bath, available for distribution worldwide. Handmade with love, each piece is presented in a luxurious dust bag and gift box – making the perfect keep sake gift that can be protected for years to come.
So pretty aren’t they? There are so many traditions I didn’t follow on my wedding day and it’s such a big regret.

Thank you for this amazing competition and reminding me about getting a garter, here’s me thinking I had remembered everything for my outfit!
They are all so beautiful, but as my dress has lots of little lace and embellished flowers I think the JOI garter in blue would go perfectly!
I am making my own veil, invitations, blue waist sash and have used left over lace flowers from my dress to embellish my blue wedding shoes also, a craft bride I know! I think the JOI garter would tie all my little blue bits and flowers in and really finish off the outfit, plus it would be nice to have some part of my outfit that I have had to teach myself to make ;-). Xx
