Hello lovelies – who wants a beautiful wedding to swoon over? You’ll be doing just that when you see today’s beautiful offering…
The absolutely gorgeous Heather & Ant tied the knot in their home town of Umhlali in South Africa – opting for a wedding that sums up their relaxed yet style conscious personalities.
They had a ‘boho chic’ big day that equaled modern meets rustic wedding perfection.

Jules is absolutely amazing, her and I clicked in our first meeting and we had such fun creating my wedding dress. I went to her with a vision and a pinterest board, and the dress evolved into something more perfect than I could have imagined.
I loved having a custom gown designed for me, we called it ‘boho chic’ and I think that sums up my personality and our day perfectly. Relaxed yet chic was my vision from the beginning.
I had the beautiful Chantilly lace sent to me from one of our fabric suppliers in China and we used a stretch lining so the dress fitted like a glove and was so comfy on the day, I didn’t want to take it off.
My favourite part of the dress was the focal point being the back, I think it’s so important as people are looking at your back during the ceremony, best to keep it interesting.
These were the first things I bought shortly after we go engaged. I travelled to the UK on a buying trip with a close friend, she spotted these beauties at River Island and we went to 3 stores until we found my size.
I work from home so I had the time to do most of the planning myself which I absolutely loved. I hired people to take care of all the different elements, I worked closely with them to make sure everything would flow so we wouldn’t be worrying about anything on the day.
Sandy Munday of SweetPea Flowers was amazing in bringing my vision to life, I didn’t have any specifics but I wanted a soft pastel boho feel, I thought the hanging décor would be the best way to fill the space and leave the tables open for the mezze style dinner served on boards in the centre of each table.
The bridesmaid dresses were bought online from ASOS, I sent the girls the pictures and asked them to choose, 2 of them chose each dress, so I decided to have a mix.
Ant’s suit was from Topshop (bought the day before – oh my nerves!)
My Dad walked me down the aisle to Ellie Goulding ‘How long will I love you’. I still get teary when I hear the song.
We had mutual friends try and set us up on a blind date for a while, to which we both replied ‘NO way!’, we ended up meeting on a ‘Beer & Bike’ – this is a different version of a ‘pub-crawl’ where you all get dressed up wild and cycle about 15kms, stopping at each pub for a drink.
We had such fun– that was 5 years ago and the fun hasn’t stopped. Ant proposed May last year on a beautiful Island in Mauritius, feels like just the other day.
Standing at the top of the stairs with my dad before I walked down the aisle and seeing all our nearest and dearest in this beautiful garden setting on a perfect afternoon, with my gorgeous man at the end was indescribable, at that moment it felt like all my dreams came true – the next minute our two babies (Biscuit and Bacon) ran down the aisle and greeted all the guests – this set the tone perfectly.
When it came to the styling of our day, I just chose colours and style elements I loved and focused on a vibe which would reflect each of us and our relationship together.
It’s amazing how when you stay true to yourself, all of the small elements come together on the day and it’s PERFECT in your eyes – your guests will agree.
Fiona our wedding photographer is just an all round amazing photographer and wonderful warm person, she makes you so comfortable in front of the camera and we had such fun shooting.
As soon as we got engaged I knew April was our Wedding month and we wanted Fee as the photographer so we decided our date based around her schedule.
We had a naked cake which fitted perfectly in with our theme. Red velvet with cream cheese frosting which is our favourite indulgence by far. The cake was an absolute hit, within 20 minutes of cutting it, there was nothing left!
Our first dance was to Michael Buble ‘Everything’. We’ve always loved this song, the words are perfect and romantic but the beat is quirky and fun as we didn’t want anything too slow, our first dance was such fun!
If you could impart any words of wisdom to a Bride to Be planning her marriage and wedding day, what would they be?
Go with your gut, it’s YOUR day! The amazing thing about weddings nowadays is that there are no rules you have to follow! I absolutely loved building my dream day to reflect our personalities and focused on making sure the guests would have the best time.
