Last year I was lucky enough to get a first hand preview of some of my biggest boho bridal crush wedding dresses by Bo & Luca – my best friend is getting married {OMG!!!!} and she tried on some gorgeous boho and indie bridal gowns at the awesome Lovers Bride in London.
One particular collection I adore and was all over was the Bo & Luca, Cassiopeia Collection from 2015…
The Bo & Luca story is one of art and beauty, of exoticism and culture; one of artisan skill and ancient craftsmanship, steeped in the magical world of couture.
Born from beginnings of nomadic travel and influenced by undying affinities with the romance of bohemia, a little nostalgic for days gone by and infused with a worldly soul and a 70s ease, the brand’s signature bohemian luxe design aesthetic is grounded in uncomplicated styling and easy elegance.
A touch gypset and conjuring moods of glamorous yesteryears, instinctual style and timeless appeal – effortless silhouettes, whimsical movement, signature hand beading and breathtaking finishes offer a new kind of bohemia reimagined for the modern bride.
Rewriting the rules of bridal design and not driven by either trends or tradition, these are the gowns that tell an epic story – the story of the wearer and her loves. Speaking to her traversing ways, to her passion for adventure, to her desire to take the road less travelled, to her liberation to dress for herself and her story. Fiercely independent with a soulful allure, her style is as innate as her story unique. Her days are spent wandering and her euphoric nights dreaming. Wherever she is, she is going her own way.
Woven into the fabric of each piece is the magic of traditional artisan techniques and craftsman skills. Designed and hand cut in Australia by designer Shannon Pittman, couture-like pieces are hand beaded at an Atelier in India, where each bead is hand placed on the finest silk by local master craftsman over a three month process. The dying art of tambour, traditional artisans skills and textile traditions protected and honoured, creating the label’s signature luxurious aesthetic.
The opulent fabrics tactile in their allure – hand dyed, the finest silks dance with intricate detailing and embellishment. Breathtaking finishes are like no other with intricately woven metallic threads, stones, sequins, faux pearls, crystals, hand cut silk petals and embroidered silk tulips awaiting discovery on cuffs, bodices and waistbands.
With three collections and a fourth on the way and with Flagship boutiques in Australia and Cape Town South Africa, the Bo & Luca brand has emerged as the go to gowns for eternal beauties that want to dress for themselves and their story on their wedding day.
The glamorous ‘Dalton’ gown has layers upon layers of soft tulle which have been hand-embroidered with antique coloured gold thread to create a stunning mermaid silhouette.
and The Risley – Long…
‘The Risley’, an ever flattering billowing two-piece gown has layers of silk chiffon which have been hand-beaded with antique coloured silver precosa stones and pale silver and gold sequins.
