Eco Friendly

Eco Ballerina Bridal: An Eco Wedding Editorial to Inspire Ethically Conscious Brides!

Today’s eco wedding editorial goes to show that ethically conscious brides do not have to scrimp on style if planning to pull off a pretty eco-friendly wedding.

A talented group of green minded wedding suppliers came together to create this gorgeous Eco Ballerina Bridal shoot – and we here at WTW are not disappointed with the results.

Planning an environmentally conscious wedding? Wedding inspo this way :))

Words by Stylist Charlotte Munro. Images by Paolo de Paolo Weddings.

The main focus of this shoot was on Ethical and Eco friendly weddings, something that more and more couples are considering for their wedding day, but hasn’t yet been well publicised on wedding blogs and in magazines.

I and professional photographer Paola De Paola wanted to change that with a beautiful, editorial styled shoot that focuses on ethical wedding companies. We wanted to focus on suppliers who could bring their own ethical and eco-friendly ethos to the shoot and create something organic and beautiful that any couple could take away with them to incorporate into their own wedding day.

I decided to introduce the ballerina aspect as I loved the concept of something flowing and beautiful, and to help convey our message – that it’s not always easy or straightforward to plan an ethical wedding, but the end result is beautiful, soulful, and can still follow fashion trends.

We were incredibly lucky in finding the most fabulous venue, the London Wetland Centre. With lots of beautiful scenery, an eco-friendly set-up and also a nature reserve, it couldn’t have been more perfect!

About their Eco ethos:

Minna

Environmental issues are important to Minna and consequently, her label can best be described as Eco Luxe. Each piece is hand embellished and made from sustainable, organic, recycled and locally produced textiles. Her label has in a short time re-defined what ethical fashion should be.

Environmentally friendly production techniques including local manufacturing and zero waste pattern cutting techniques are used for every garment. Minna is always looking into any new ways to minimise the impact to the environment. Stylish, desirable and beautiful, Minna’s range appeals to the wider audience, not just ethical.

Arabel Lebrusan

Arabel Lebrusan is committed to sourcing the finest materials mined and created only through sustainable practices. We look at all options available to find the most socially, environmentally and culturally responsible sources to ensure that every single engagement and wedding ring can be worn with peace of mind by the ethically-minded couple.

As one of the first jewellery designers in the UK to be Fairtrade certified, Arabel has always been dedicated to creating jewellery that is beautiful both inside and out, combining the ethical with exquisite design. Every Arabel Lebrusan engagement and wedding ring arrives with a certificate of origin to reassure you and your partner that your jewellery has been made using the most ethical materials available.

We donate a percentage of our profits to our chosen charity, The Water Project. Our reason for choosing The Water Project is to help the water problems in Sierra Leone, a country which suffered eleven years of civil war in part due to fighting over the diamond mining industry and traffic of blood diamonds.

We use a variety of ethical metals in our wedding and engagement rings: Fairtrade gold, Fairtrade Eco gold, 100% recycled gold, Fairtrade Platinum, Fairtrade Eco Platinum, 100% recycled Platinum, Fairtrade Silver, Fairtrade Eco Silver and 100% recycled silver. Our 100% recycled materials are sourced specifically from a carefully selected refinery, and buying Fairtrade certified gold jewellery ensures that small scale artisan miners and their communities are supported by receiving a fair price, and also through receiving extra money to invest in education, medical care and environmental projects.

With drive, resilience and passion Green People was founded in 1997. From the very beginning Charlotte’s principles meant that product performance and ethical practice were never sacrificed for profit. With a promise to never use aggressive ingredients or synthetic chemicals such as sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, alcohol (ethanol) or synthetic fragrances or colourants in our products, and to never test on animals, Green People was born.

17 years on, with a wealth of knowledge and experience Green People is proud to offer over 100 certified organic products in high performance award – winning ranges for all of the family including specialist skin conditions. The Real Flower Confetti Company

I would recommend our Delphinium Petal Confetti because they are our most eco-friendly petals!

We grow them here on the farm in Worcestershire, they are handpicked, dried in the sunshine, totally natural and biodegradable! They travel less than a mile to our farm office to be packed by hand.
