Candlelit Navy & Gold Real Wedding: Liz & Matt
Matt and I wanted a dark, wood-panelled room to hold our cosy, candlelit navy and gold wedding and so we were very happy that we found Whitney Court; It has such a beautiful Great Hall. The venue also boasted stunning views across the surrounding countryside that looks out towards the Black Mountains. This really was a perfect location to appreciate the changing colours of the Autumn trees.

The Dress
The dress was the first thing I bought after booking the venue! My dress was a bit different and I loved the detailing on the back, so modern and sophisticated. On the day I also wore my mothers’ traditional red Chinese wedding dress for the Chinese Tea Ceremony.
The Wedding Breakfast
Our wedding breakfast was held in the dark, oak-panelled Great Hall. We arranged the room in a banqueting layout with navy blue tablecloths combined with a dark green foliage runner that ran the length of two long tables. Amongst the foliage, we placed antique brass candlesticks and pretty tea lights.
The Venue Styling
This created the dark, but cosy and welcoming candlelit atmosphere that we’d both wanted. To bring more gold into the decoration we used gold charger plates and gold cutlery which contrasted well with the dark navy tablecloths. The two statement flower pieces at the bottom of the staircase made a beautiful backdrop for photos.
The Planning
As I run my own wedding venue styling business, I undertook most of the planning and coordinating of our wedding day. Working in the wedding industry means I’m lucky enough to know lots of wonderful suppliers.
