Quintessentially English Country Winter Wedding
Greentrees Estate is a brand-new luxury wedding venue set in the heart of the beautiful Sussex countryside, and working with Matthew Scott Photography we wanted to showcase this stunning brand-new space through a classic, quintessentially English winter wedding shoot, using bold winter tones with a luxurious modern twist in design and style.

The Venue
The venue has been sympathetically restored and renovated, to include many of the distinctive architectural features, offering a time-honoured setting but with an innovative and contemporary feel which we wanted to reflect in this shoot. We worked with some truly talented suppliers to create this shoot and really wanted to show any couples looking to have an English country wedding that it is possible to keep the classic feel often associated with the country and outdoor weddings but with an up-to-date look.
The Design
We started by selecting our furniture and props and opted for a rustic table and chair setting by Co-Ordination event hire which was complemented by a simple ivory coloured seat pad. Opting for luxurious and deep winter tones for the table florals we opted for more natural colours when it came to the napkins and the table runner with dove grey napkins and a blush tone runner.
In keeping with the classic design we chose gorgeous vintage glassware, crockery and cutlery from Harriet’s Table and to give a modern contrast to the tableware we asked the fabulous LouPaper to create some elegant stationery for us, pairing classic textured board with gold foil and bouncy bold calligraphy for a contemporary yet tactile feel.
To give the look a modern vibe we hung retro light bulbs supplied by Hire Your Day over the tablescape to create a cosy intimate atmosphere which also added warm tones to the table.
We kept the centrepieces simple with stunning winter florals featuring hints of blush by Bella June Flowers and simple brass candlesticks in between these from Hire Your Day. We wanted to use simple candlelight on the table and by not over complicating the centrepieces we created a sophisticated, classic yet modern table setting which allowed all the individual elements to stand out.
Hair & Makeup
The wedding story starts with the bride and bridesmaids having hair and make-up done by the very talented JR Makeup Artistry (hair) and Alicia Sandeman (Makeup). Together they created a look for the bride that complimented the stunning wedding dress from Fross Weddings Collections by Nicole Spose. We wanted the bridal party ‘look’ to be timeless using styles and colour palettes that continue to be popular for English weddings. The bridesmaid’s blush dresses are from Oasis and the Groom’s Navy check suit from Dickie’s Suit Hire.
The Flowers
The bridal party bouquets and the groom’s buttonhole were created by Sidnye Flowers, using seasonal fresh-cut flowers that worked perfectly with the style and look of the bridal party. Using dark deep colours with hints of blush that featured throughout, it gave the shoot a country floral feel.
The venue is situated in 170 acres of rolling countryside, so we wanted a main part of the shoot to take place outdoors to show couples the amazing opportunities available at this venue. Bella June Flowers created a floral flower arch which we used as a framework for photos of the bride and groom looking into the walled garden.
The Cake
Here we also showcased the stunning cake made for the shoot by Birch House Bakery, again this was in keeping with the dark burgundy colour scheme and was visually striking using dried florals as a feature.
The rustic light up letters supplied by Lumimix created a striking backdrop for photos of the bridal party and here we also created a modern seating area with the venue’s brickwork as the background featuring classic burgundy chesterfield furniture, copper lanterns and natural candlelight all supplied by Hire Your Day. The couple enjoyed a sparkling Cuvée Rosé supplied by local wine estate Bolney Wine Estate as well as delighting in fabulous hand-crafted macarons by Birch House Bakery.
The Estate
We ended the shoot with the couple having photos taken on the estate with the beautiful roaming deer which is really a unique feature of this gorgeous venue and something that adds a wow factor to couples looking for that English Country Winter Wedding.
Thanks so much to the team below for sharing this wonderful, quintessentially English countryside winter wedding inspiration.
